SCOOP: Batman: Three Jokers Sequel From Geoff Johns & Jason Fabok

I understand from well-placed sources that Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok are creating a one-shot sequel to DC Comic's biggest selling comic book of 2020, Batman: The Three Jokers. And that will be an integral part of the new DC Omniverse that Bleeding Cool has been scooping the news on in recent weeks.
All those questions you had about Batman: The Three Jokers' place in continuity? Looks like it – and Doomsday Clock – were the vanguard for what is coming with the DC Omniverse. Any story, any character, any time, has its place. A shared history but infinite possibilities going forward. I've been reporting that DC Comics will have a DC Omniverse Special in March — whatever it will be called — to set this all up.

We know very little about it save for two words, and this may speak to its place in the aforementioned DC Omniverse. Those words? "Batman Universe". Let the speculation begin, I certainly have ideas.

Per il resto....boh, io sono al momento uh po' scettico su questo DC Omniverse.

Io VOGLIO una continuity.

Mi andava benissimo la formula proposta da Johns in DClock: la continuity esisterà sempre ma verrà sempre aggiornata. Si fa dal 1985, ma finora nessuno aveva mai reso "regola" i reboot.

Ma questo Omniverse....boh, al momento mi lascia perplesso.

Abbiamo solo speculazioni da parte di BC, pure loro non sanno di preciso cosa intende fare la DC con questo concetto, ma in un certo senso cambia veramente poco per noi.

Mi spiego, ovviamente c'è una scusa in-story che giustifica l'esistenza dell'Omniverso, non è qualcosa che è nato da DClock, è *sempre esistito* solo che noi abbiamo sempre e solo seguito un suo universo, il Metaverso, per l'appunto.

E va bene.

La ragione "meta" era appunto una dettata dalla continuity, e le stesse regole valgono anche per il Marvel Universe.
Io ora ho cominciato a parlare di Geoff-verse, Snyder-verse, Bensis-verse ecc... ma in realtà, se ci pensate, è stato così per anni!

Quante volte io e altri abbiamo "criticato" questa cosa? Geoff andava avanti per i fatti suoi con Rebirth e DClock, Snyder pure con Metal e Death Metal, avevi King col suo Batman e Heroes in Crisis, avevi Morrison all in solo su GL, avevi Bendis che...vabbe, non è mai stato bravo con la continuity, quindi trovarsi in questa situazione gli ha fatto gola e ogni tanto si legava con le cazzate di Snyder, ma alla fine pure lui andava avanti per i fatti suoi con Wonder Comics, le testate Superman e i SUOI eventi tipo Event Leviathan.
In uno stesso anno avevi robe come DClock, Year's of the villain, Event Leviathan, conclusione/conseguenze di Heroes in Crisis e cose così, cioè...un casino unico pur lavorando all'interno della stessa "continuity" dello stesso "universo".

Quindi forse cambierà veramente poco, io spero per davvero di avere un Geoff-verse, con una SUA continuity, magari riavere il ketchup di DClock, quel Rebirth 2.0 che tanto volevo, guidato da Geoff, ma sempre con l'aiuto e contributo di altri writers come Williamson, Tynion, Tomasi, Venditti, Abnett boh...voglio i miei writers fidati!

Poi Snyder può andare avanti con le sue cazzate, e ok, magari giocare ancora sempre con Tynion e Williamson, magari anche Glass ecc...
Bendis è praticamente un one man army sotto questo punto di vista.

Oh comunque vada, mi sento di dire che sarà solo una cosa temporanea, la cosa -per quanto possa essere bella o meno- non penso sia destinata a durare per molto, già avere un periodo lungo 2 anni è dir tanto.
Magari sembrerà un po' ostico entrare in questa mentalità inizialmente, dove tutto pare slegato da tutto, ma fidatevi che non sarà nemmeno così difficile, anzi...vista la libertà creativa che avanno i writers, potrebbero anche sfornare delle bellissime opere!

Geoff Johns Reveals His Favorite Batman: Three Jokers Moment

Joe Chill plays a prominent role over the course of Batman: Three Jokers, culminating in Bruce Wayne deciding to forgive the man who killed his parents before the murderer succumbs to his terminal cancer.

However, when Batman first confronts Chill for the first time in years at Blackgate Prison, the Dark Knight has to mentally psych himself up to speak to him. For writer Geoff Johns, this moment of rare vulnerability for the Caped Crusader was Johns' personal favorite moment in the story and surprised him while he was writing it.

"One of the moments that surprised me, even writing the book, was when Bruce went up to Joe Chill initially to talk to him and the first time he opens his mouth, he's a little too quiet, he has to clear his throat and then he speaks," "That happened while I was writing the script and I think it was because I was there with Bruce. And the fact that Joe Chill gives him pause when speaks, the Joker doesn't but Joe Chill does.. kind of told me everything about Bruce in that moment when it came to Joe Chill and the specter that Joe Chill is."



The Joker plotted to use Chill in his own twisted plan, not to transform him into the latest Joker as the Criminal Clown Prince of Crime planned, but as a means for Batman to forgive the mugger and heal... so the Comedian Joker could become Bruce's ultimate antagonist. With Chill's background as mysterious as the Joker's, in some ways, Johns found the character's inclusion to be intriguing.

"You don't know a lot about Joe Chill, where his mindset was, where he emotionally was, that night. There's not a lot that we've spent a lot of time on, at least with this version of Batman and his stories," Johns explains. "And to have Joe Chill be something with layers that Bruce didn't expect, that the Joker exploited for his own use, he wants to be Batman's greatest pain and, in order to do that, he's got to help Batman heal. That's ultimately what the Joker's plan was. But that moment, to me, was probably my favorite moment in the book because it just happened while the script was being written. And Jason drew it so beautifully because I've never seen Batman hesitate or have to clear his throat to talk."

Jason Fabok Reveals Personal Reason He Joined Batman: Three Jokers

Batman: Three Jokers ended on a surprising moment of growth and healing for the Dark Knight, with Bruce Wayne finally forgiving Joe Chill for murdering his parents and inadvertently inspiring his crimefighting career from a young age.

For co-creator and artist Jason Fabok, the miniseries' themes of Bruce finding the strength and serenity to forgive the man who ruined his life was what drew him to the project, with Fabok secretly wanting to craft a story where Bruce forgives Joe Chill and comes to terms with his loss one he always wanted to tell.



"The whole idea of Batman forgiving Joe Chill was something that was very, very personal and powerful for me and it was really the plot point that really made me want to do this book and really fight for it."
"It was an interesting kind of thing because my whole life I've kind of sat there and thought the only way for Bruce Wayne be free and have a future and be happy is to come to terms with the deaths of his parents and possibly forgive Joe Chill. And that was a story I've always wanted to tell, even as a kid...you can ask Pat Gleason about this because we had a conversation about what's the one Batman story you would want to tell that DC would never allow you to tell and my answer was I wanted to do a story where Batman forgives Joe Chill."

Writer Geoff Johns was unaware of Fabok's secret ambitions, with the moment of him approaching Fabok with his own idea for the story a moment of kismet for the artist. Faced with the possibility of giving Bruce Wayne a moment of hope, healing and growth, Fabok knew it was an offer he couldn't turn down.

"And then one day, here comes Geoff, and he had no idea this was a story that I wanted to do, and he pitches me Three Jokers and he says at the very end Batman is going to forgive Joe Chill. And that's when I knew this book was more than just a story, I had to do this, it was something that was preordained or something" Fabok continues. "I needed to do this book and fought so hard to make sure we could do this because I really thought that was such a powerful, powerful message that, as humans, we need to be reminded of. We need to be reminded of forgiveness and ... sorry if I get too preachy ... but love thy enemy. It's easier to love your neighbor when they're good to you but it's hard to love your enemy."

Ducard: Naturalmente. Con gli anni le nostre armi diventano più sofisticate, a Gotham ne testammo una nuova: l'economia. Ma a quell'epoca sottovalutammo le iniziative di alcuni stimati cittadini, tra i quali i tuoi genitori. Abbattuti da uno di quei diseredati che aiutavano. Crea la fame e chiunque diventerà un criminale. La loro fine galvanizzò Gotham, che riuscì a salvarsi ma vive sul filo del rasoio da allora. Siamo qui per finire il lavoro. Stavolta nessun incauto idealista ci ostacolerà. Come tuo padre, anche tu non hai il coraggio di fare quanto si rende necessario. Se qualcuno ostacola il cammino della vera giustizia, bisogna scivolargli dietro le spalle... e pugnalarlo al cuore!

Il loop, l'ironia, e la contraddizione di tutto, assolutamente perfetto.

Io devo ancora leggerla la storia perchè aspetto il volume completo ITA, ma a leggere il 99% dei commenti sul web, si va dalla merda più totale, alla storia scialba e inutile.
Ammetto che avrei tantissima voglia di leggerla, ma non vedevo una coesione così grande di dissensi dai tempi di HiC
