Teen Titans #16 is the most blatant recent example of a writer having to put all of their toys back in the box, so that a new writer can come in and have their own fun. In the course of just 20 pages three members leave the team, at different times and for completely different reasons. Two of the members hardly get any justification for their departures beyond, "Sorry, got other things to do", while the third member's disappearance is equivalent to Poochie having to return to his home planet in The Simpsons. Teen Titans #16 isn't satisfying as a conclusion to Will Pfeifer's run, nor is it necessary if you're looking forward to Greg Pak next month - it's an awkwardly exposition-heavy justification for future changes that could (and should) have just as easily been summed up in one caption box, not given an entire issue. –Levi
