The problem with retelling classic storylines, is that you can't help but compare the new to the old. Teen Titans #17 "But Who is Wonder Girl?" isn't a straight up retelling of the classic "Who is Donna Troy" from Marv Wolfman and George Perez's classic New Teen Titans run, but it is somewhat of a thematic retelling. It uses that basic springboard to explore the mysterious past of Cassie in the New 52. But was anyone still wondering about Cassie's past at this point? Is this something that needs to be explored? Greg Pak never convinces us that it does, and that's this issue's biggest failing. Pak writes some interesting inter-team dynamics between the characters, and that paired with Ian Churchill's solid superhero storytelling make this a pretty decent comic. But at the end of the issue, there's just not enough there to really propel you to find out what happens next. –Levi

Who is Wonder Girl? That's the question that the creative team hopes you will be asking as you read this arc, but at this point, it seems like that question doesn't really matter. So far, Cassie has just been along for the ride - a tourist strapped in for the guided tour. Pak is able to find some interest in other aspects of the story, though. Wonder Woman and the mysterious Cassandra's presence add some personality to what had been a fairly blandly dialogued first issue. Ian Churchill's rendering of the character's is solid, but it's disappointing that he wasn't able to do the action sequences as well. Teen Titans #18 is an improvement over the previous issue, but much like Cassie, it's still in search of its identity. –Levi
