Fra l'altro pare che il personaggio di Bunker - costume violetto, preso a calci da red robin in questa cover - sarà omosessuale.



Personalmente la ritengo una scelta molto coraggiosa, a maggior ragione perché inserita in un fumetto dedicato a un pubblico giovane. Non oso immaginare quanti ragazzini abbiano vissuto con paura la propria diversità sessuale, e ritengo che un medium popolare che voglia rivolgersi a certe fasce di età, non debba nascondersi dietro un dito ma anzi affrontare di pieno petto il problema dell'identità.

Comunque passaggi interessanti di Johns durante l'intervista di Newsrama su Aquaman:

Nrama: When the idea was first considered to relaunch all the titles, how involved were you in the decision? And what did you think of it? And what was your role?

Johns: We were in the writers meeting.... wow, that's been awhile ago now... but I was all for the relaunch. I think the relaunch is a terrific idea for a starting point for everything, and for same-day digital, and all that.

I remember when we were in the office, and people were saying, "Well, you can't renumber Action." And then we just started asking, "Well, why not? It's just a number on a cover!"

Everyone was debating about it. There was a lot of talking about it.

The thing I was probably the most vocal about was changing continuity to such an extent. It was such a creative challenge, so I just knew it would be really important that everyone takes it really seriously. I just thought that if they're going to change something, they have to make sure they're not just changing it for change's sake, but they're changing it because they think it's going to be a better emotional story, or something's a little out of date. But that was my biggest concern.

And that's certainly the way I'm approaching everything on Justice League, Aquaman and Green Lantern.

Johns: In #1, you will.

Johns: Jim [Lee] and I are working on that together.

Il prossimo mega evento quindi potrebbe essere affidato a John e Lee.

Questo perchè era praticamente l'unica che reggeva le vendite e i fan sarebbero scesi in piazza con fiaccole e forconi, quindi secondo me lo era, dopotutto gli hanno dato le chiavi del DCU, vorrei dire.

Over the past few weeks I've been hearing disquiet emanating from the offices of 1700 Broadway.

You may have thought that the unquestionable success of the relaunch would have been cause for celebration at DC Comics and amongst its freelance creatives. And I'm sure some people are very pleased indeed.

But more and more, from creator upon creator, I've been hearing horror stories. No one is prepared to go on the record, those NDAs hold strong, and people would actually like to keep their jobs. For now.

Because I understand that at least one high profile creator will be making the jump to Marvel. As will quite a few slightly less-high profile creators with an opportunity to play up their new higher profiles in the wake of the relaunch. And that Marvel has also had to turn down a number of enquiries.

One common criticism being heard from a number of sources concerns the micro management of Dan DiDio, compared repeatedly to that of Bill Jemas*. Repeatedly asking for changes, then asking for changes to those changes. And then more changes to those that take them back to where they were in the first place, except now they're up against an impossible deadline, which must be met...

But here's the thing. The relaunch is a success. And much of that can be put down to Dan DiDio who has been pushing for approach this for years, and has been completely validated in the success gained. The question is, is it a success because of such management or despite it?

It has been observed by some that Dan DiDio has placed his personal reputation within the company on the relaunch. As a result, right now his stock within the company has never been higher - quite a jump from three years ago when Nikki Finke was telling everyone he was about to be fired. But there's the viewpoint that he can't quite believe his recent success and is insistent on running a Red Queen's Race to keep everything the way it is, spinning as many plates as he can to keep them in the air. And smashing any plate the second it looks like it might have a hint of a wobble.

But all that spinning may see certain plates flying off somewhere else...

*It might be worth recalling that despite criticism, Jemas gave Marvel the Ultimate Universe and co-wrote the first issues of Ultimate Spider-Man.**

Non ho ben capito a che cosa ti riferisci: solo le testate batmaniane? o new 52 in generale?
A parte il fatto che sì, in effetti credo sia abbastanza indifferente l'ordine (soprattutto in questo momento con i soli numeri 1 usciti), fossero anche ambientati in epoche diverse non credo poi cambierebbe granchè ora come ora.
Per certo so che Justice League e mi pare Action Comics sono ambientati qualche anno nel passato, su batman & co. nonostante ne seguirò 7 (le 4 batmaniane più nightwing, batgirl e catwoman) francamente non mi sono neanche posto la domanda se e in che ordine leggerle.. specie con un solo capitolo all'attivo, ci fossero già stati i primi cicli completi di storie e allora forse ci potrebbe stare, ma parlare di ordine per avere una lettura perfetta al momento mi sembra prematuro..
Poi, settimana prossima arrivano tutti i #1 e in un paio di giorno mi spediscono il tutto, al massimo una volta che li avrò letti ti dirò se e in quali ci sono salti temporali o quant'altro..
