Man of Steel

So...

Che cazzo di potere ha Johns per riuscire a tornare sempre sui suoi passi mantenendo ogni volta lo stesso livello di "sense of wonder" without powers ma solo dicendoti "hey visto questo aggancio a Watchmen, a DClock, a Flashpoint Beyond ecc..?! Ti gasa o no?!" :evilgrin"

:dyo:

SDCC: Jeremy Adams and Tim Sheridan Discuss DC's New Golden Age
https://www.cbr.com/jeremy-adams-tim-sheridan-new-golden-age-interview/

CitazioneCBR: Jeremy, what can you tell us about Knight Terrors: Green Lantern?

Jeremy Adams:
Knight Terrors is happening now, and the first issue of Knight Terrors: Green Lantern is already available. There's this giant nightmare wave that has crashed over the earth, and Hal Jordan is confronted with his nightmares. Now that's a bit strange for somebody who is known for overcoming fear, and I leaned into that a bit. It's an interesting way for me, as a writer who's brand new to Hal Jordan, to do a character study and explore his origins a little with an added twist. So it's great.

Both of you have upcoming series in Dawn of DC that focus on the Golden Age Flash and Green Lantern. What can you tell us about those projects?

Tim Sheridan:
Jeremy and I had the incredible fortune to work with Geoff Johns on a book called Flashpoint Beyond. That was the first time we'd ever met the guy, and we really had an amazing time working together. That book ended by pointing toward some universe-shaking events, and one of the results of that conclusion is what we're going to explore under the banner of The New Golden Age, which includes Alan Scott: The Green Lantern (which I'm writing), Jay Garrick: The Flash, and Wesley Dodds: The Sandman. Those three books are coming out in October.

What do you have planned for your Alan Scott: Green Lantern series?

Sheridan:
The New Golden Age introduced someone we'd never seen before, the Golden Age Red Lantern, the arch nemesis of Alan Scott during his heyday as the Green Lantern. This is a character who was removed from the timeline in our universe and has been reinserted back into existence. Now you can imagine that if your arch nemesis had been removed from time, your life story might play out a little bit differently. There have been a lot of changes in Alan's life, and we've learned a lot about him in recent years. This book gives us an opportunity to go back and look at Allen's life in the '30s and '40s as a closeted gay hero who is also coming to terms with his origin as the Green Lantern in addition to dealing with his first encounter with the Red Lantern.

Does this mean that your story will take place primarily in the past?

Sheridan:
The Alan Scott series I'm writing doesn't take place in the present day -- mostly. We see Alan discover all sorts of things in his life in real-time. In fact, you're going to see Alan's origin as the Green Lantern played out from a new angle with new information. We're sort of learning it all in real-time, as he's learning it.

I want to talk more about the Alan Scott Green Lantern series. Back when the character was first introduced, his ring was based on magic as opposed to alien technology, making him very different from the Green Lanterns who would come after him. With your series exploring his past and origin, how exactly will his power ring work?

Sheridan:
I love the whole magic origin. But I also love how when you think about technology, particularly science fiction technology that we don't understand, we call it magic. The idea of magic has evolved with our evolved understanding of science. We now have a much better understanding of things that we once would simply describe as magic. The DC Universe now has a better understanding of green energy and how it's connected to the rest of the Green Lantern Corps. We're not reinventing anything here, but instead recalling everything that we've heard and learned in the past and clarifying how the power works.

What I love about this question is that it's a huge part of this story. Alan is brand new at this, and he's still figuring out what exactly has at his fingertips. He doesn't even know the extent of what he can do with this power. But he will learn throughout the story and gain a greater understanding of his capabilities by the end. Additionally, the Red Lantern's power comes from a source called the Crimson Flame. One of the things we're going to learn in the story is the ways in which the power of the Green Lantern and the Red Lantern are connected, how they relate to each other, and above all, why they are so connected.

CitazioneIs your Jay Garrick: The Flash series written in a similar fashion, Jeremy?

Adams:
Jay Garrick takes place in the present day, but like Tim said, it's rolling out of Flashpoint Beyond and into Stargirl and JSA by Geoff Johns. He introduced Jay Garrick's daughter, who was pulled out of time. When that happened, everybody forgot about her. So that character is being reintroduced, and Jay and his wife Joan are coming to the realization that they have a kid who essentially stays the same age. There's also some mystery surrounding when she was taken out of time, and the ramifications of that are going to have a major impact on the DC universe as a whole.

Like everything with Geoff, it's never about what's in front of you. It's more like a 3D chess game that maneuvers around something happening later that will be really exciting. What we get to do is incredible in that we get to touch and explore these iconic characters who haven't had solo titles for a long, long time. The Sandman is going to be amazing, too. All of it is worth checking out.
