It's great to see Poison Ivy in her own solo series for once, but this book never seems quite sure what it wants to focus on. Ivy's efforts to start her life over often clash with her plant/animal hybrid experiments and the book's halfhearted murder mystery element. One would think the idea of Ivy growing her own brood of apparently sentient plant children would receive a lot more attention than it actually does here. Amy Chu's portrayal of Ivy is sound. She has clear desires and motivations. She's hardly a remorseless villain, but she's not above a little casual murder when the offending party wrongs her. It's the lack of focus in the scripts that are dragging this book down. This issue also suffers a bit from the fact that regular artist Clay Mann is joined by guest artist Stephen Segovia. Segovia does his best to mimic Mann's elegant style and lively figure work, but the shift in styles is still noticeable. -Jesse
