Can Hal and Sinestro escape the criminals that make up the Indigo tribe? More importantly, how do they fix the lantern to get them back under control?
The Good
Minor spoilers ahead, and as always, I'll black it out.

Black Hand's side story was fantastic. He's one of my favorite Green Lantern villains, so I was very excited to see that half the issue revolves around what he's going through, on his own, as he tries to escape the Indigo Tribe. With everything that's happened in the past few years with Blackest Night, it's nice to see him un-Indigo'd trying to escape. Key word: Trying.

Phenomenal reveal at the end of this issue that could set up an amazing future story, and the lead up to an awesome story. I won't reveal anything here, but it's a heck of a ride up to that final page.

Doug Mahnke's art is wonderful here, and what I enjoyed most about his art on this issue was that he's great at developing the world these characters are on. There's a lot going on in this issue and Mahnke does a great job at adding bit's and pieces to the background to really flesh out where these characters are at. His background work gives this issue great depth to the overall world.

Geoff Johns is a world-builder, especially in Green Lantern. We should all know this by now. While this isn't one of my favorite story arcs of the series, there's so many great bits and pieces to the Indigo Tribe throughout this arc and issue. He continues to make Green Lantern one of the most interesting books DC currently has.

The Bad
Although this is the conclusion to the story, it feels really anti-climactic. The story just felt like it's main goal wasn't to give the reader more information but rather to bring back Black Hand.

I felt like the Indigo Tribe's story was completely overshadowed by Black Hand's side story, which is a bit of a bummer since the whole arc has been about them and the history of this Lantern tribe. I felt like I didn't get enough of that story. It fell a bit flat for me.

The Verdict
I could talk for hours about the closing to this issue, but I think it's best if you just read it. There's two great stories in this issue. While one of them may have over-shadowed the other, they are both fantastic and well worth your time.

Doug Mahnke does a great job and building the world these characters are on. While the foreground art is awesome, keep your eyes out for the little things in each panel that add to the overall development of the planet the characters are on.

On the down side, the Indigo side of things felt a bit anti-climactic, and the actual Indigo story was completely over-shadowed by what was happening with Black Hand.

"I hear words but I cannot understand them.
The roar of the fire inside my brain...bloats out everything.
Suddenly I remember a former name. Someone named Jack Moore. Was that me? He never got into figths. Hated violence.
Now violence seems so right. So natural.
For a moment I lose flight. The crazy power diminishes.
I realize I mustn't think. Just act.
Just Kill."

The rings don't matter. Courage does.

Underneath all of the mythology, that's always been the enduring message of Geoff Johns' run on Green Lantern, and that's why it's such a delight to see this theme get such renewed prevalence this week. Hal Jordan and Sinestro, in all the ways that matter, are very much the sons of Abin Sur, and seeing them embrace his legacy — and their roles in it — makes for a solid conclusion to "The Secret of the Indigo Tribe."

Ever since he relaunched this series, Geoff Johns has been a bit off with his balance, turning what had been a rigidly defined space epic into more of an interstellar, violent buddy-cop series. Yet I can't help but think he must feel some sense of vindication for staying the course with this issue, as both Hal and Sinestro get their moments in the sun fighting off the berserk ex-cons that make up the Indigo Tribe. Suddenly, all the themes that have been on the backburner for years — courage, legacy, determination, coercion, even hope for a different kind of future — ignite like a Lantern's ring, weaving a thematic structure that is far sturdier than the green and indigo light-shows would lead you to believe.

That said, while the heart of this book is in the right place, there are some flaws in the execution. Considering how much exposition there was last issue, Johns succeeds in making this installment very accessible, and really packs in a good amount of story for the finale. The downside? Sometimes the story moves in a little too convenient of a direction, with two abrupt heel turns that help save the day. The other issue is that, particularly where Hal's concerned, the book does occasionally get a little overwhelmed with the word balloons.

The art here is also a strong showing by Doug Mahnke and his silent corps of dedicated inkers. There's definitely a more lush kind of inking going on in this issue, giving Mahnke more shadow on his characters and imbuing the book with an altogether more animated look. This smoothes out the occasional stiffness Mahnke can give his characters, particularly in their faces, allowing us to focus on the composition and hard-hitting fisticuffs. Sinestro in particular steals the show in one sequence, where Mahnke masterfully cuts between him fighting a horde of homicidal ex-Indigo Lanterns and Hal trying to stop the problem at the source.

"The Secret of the Indigo Tribe" isn't an arc that will remake the DC Universe like Blackest Night — and to be honest, I'm thankful for that. Even an event-spinning juggernaut like Geoff Johns needs a recharge every once in awhile, and this arc brings him closer to his roots than I've seen in a long time. In brightest day, in blackest night, and even with some rough edges, it's always the men, not the rings, that make Green Lantern shine. Beware their power, indeed.

We are called Cybermen. We were exactly like you once, but our cybernetic scientists realised that our race was getting weak. Our lifespan was getting shorter, so our scientists and doctors devised spare parts for our bodies until we could be almost completely replaced. Our brains are just like yours, except that certain weaknesses have been removed. Weaknesses like... emotions, pain. You will become like us. You will be upgraded.
