Primo numero di questa serie spin off di SIKTC, dove abbiamo come protagonista Aaron. È un pg interessante, sfortunatamente visto poco nella serie madre, che può qui mostrare tutte le sfaccettature del suo carattere. E sono molte. Da totale incompreso vittima di bullismo da parte delle White Masks a killer di mostri. Ora (cioè nel passato quando ancora non aveva denti nella maschera) con un compagno di stanza decisamente scomodo ci sarà da divertirsi, visto che nel presente invece pare abbia per lui la stessa missione che ha Cutter in Something is killing the children verso Erica

Nella parte ambientata nel passato, Jace affronta la sua prova per ottenere definitivamente il marchio Slaughter nel nome e cambiare "casata", nel frattempo il suo rapporto con Aaron procede tra alti e bassi ma già si capisce che ci sarà sotto qualcosa di sentimentale. Alla fine sono due personaggi combattuti e che si sentono fuori dal mondo, quindi si capiscono molto bene. Mi domando quindi cosa possa essere cambiato se nel presente sono messi così male.

Si conclude qui l'arco legato ad Aaron e Jace, tra passato e presente la storia di un'altra casata si intreccia con quella della House of slaughter e ci viene confermato come quest'ultima sia leggermente marcia alla base, partendo dal vecchio dragone.. C'è amore e coraggio in questo arco, entrambi sfruttati a dovere e in modo intelligente, che aprono anche la strada ad altre storie molto interessanti.

Gli ultimi tre capitoli dell'arco Scarlet sono un'altra conferma su quanto sia bravo Tynion a scrivere e coordinare storie sia horror che psicologiche. Qui si arriva al finale delle vicende del protagonista con un metaforico scoppio sia sul piano azione che su quello appunto psicologico, è un culmine di emozioni che partono dal background del ragazzo (molto triste) fino al "presente" che si collega ad un'altra storia. È davvero molto interessante come si intreccia tutto e ho apprezzato tanto la delicatezza usata per le parti nel passato legate alla madre/nascita del "mostro".
Lo consiglio!

Si parte con un altro arco rilanciando il personaggio di Jace, stavolta alla guida di un gruppo di bambini sopravvissuti (e la scena del massacro dal quale provengono è davvero forte..!). Tra questi ce n'è uno in particolare che forse ha scelto un modello di eroe sbagliato da seguire..
Per Jace ovviamente i problemi (provenienti dal passato) sono già dietro l'angolo!

C'è sia una storia con Maxine che sicuramente la lancerà in un prossimo futuro sia come è composta la House of slaughter, dove si trovano le altre in giro per il mondo, le varie procedure e riti di passaggio, la spiegazione delle differenze tra le varie bandane, ecc.. Molto interessante!

Nel finale diventa parecchio inquietante  ma ci sono ancora misteri da risolvere..
Apprezzabile quanto pensa Jace nei confronti dei bambini. Sono bambini, devono crescere come tali, non come killer di mostri o quant'altro!
Si fa sempre più lontano il salvataggio del piccolo Sunny, finito a New Orleans dritto nella tana del lupo...

Si ha il quadro generale sul rapporto tra Jace e Jolie e su quello che è accaduto quando erano ragazzini. C'è da dire che Jolie è sempre stata un pò fuori di testa e

Primo volume per questa serie prequel di Something is killing the children.
Il focus è spostato sulla casata degli Slaughter e soprattutto sulla storia di crescita di Aaron.
La trama mi è piaciucchiata ma forse mancano i due punti principali per me di questa serie: la parte horror ed Erika.
Qui invece abbiamo più una sorta di teen drama che parla di vendetta e di sospirata redenzione.
Alla fine abbiamo le sottotrame più piccantine che potrebbero dare pepe ai prossimi episodi.
