The full might of Excalibur finally stands together in Excalibur #5. The barrier between Otherworld, Krakoa, and the mortal realm as been dissolved by Shogo's dragon fire and Apocalypse's ritual is almost complete. But he didn't account for the will of Rogue and the back-channeling of Gambit, who enlists one Rachel Summers to give Rogue the psychic push she needs to finally reawaken. Though the ongoing defense of the new Excalibur tower gives this issue a rushed, slightly muddy pace, Tini Howard continues to keep her eye on the characters, using the full team finally to bounce more engaging dialogue off each other. The way she wraps up on this particular chapter of Apocalypse's time with the team is also a fun, heartfelt twist on the antihero's cold machinations. Marcus To and Erick Arciniega continue to shine with the more mythical and magic-based action, the constant battle in the "real world" neatly cut by a sumptuous dream sequence guiding Rogue to consciousness. While a bit lost in the fog of battle this chapter, Excalibur #5 continues to be a worthy tale for the new incarnation of the team.

Excalibur #6 (Published by Marvel Comics; Review by Justin Partridge; 'Rama Rating: 9 out of 10):

It's the battle of Braddocks for the fate of Otherworld in Excalibur #6. Written with a keen heart and drive by Tini Howard, this issue wastes little time resolving the ongoing problem of Morgan Le Fay's constant siege of Avalon. And the answer is a battle of the champions, newly resurrected Apocalypse's choice Captain Britain versus Le Fay's champion, the corrupted Brian Braddock. But thanks to Betsy's selflessness and the timely intervention of Jamie Braddock, order is restored in Otherworld, but that doesn't mean Howard is avoiding the emotional fallout. Artists Marcus To and Erick Arciniega continue to impress here, melding the science fiction set dressing of Krakoa to the high fantasy thrills of Otherworld, anchored with their keen character models. Still one of the standouts of Dawn of X, Excalibur #6 continues to live up to the legacy.

Si conclude la battaglia, abbiamo qualche plot point interessante, specialmente con lo status quo, Apocalypse è un mastermind e sta rapidamente posizionando le sue pedine nei posti giusti.
La faccenda con Rogue sarebbe anche interessante, ma qua si parla di X-Men, abbiamo una marea di mutanti, parlare di figli ecc... lascia il tempo che trova per certi pg.

Poi per quanto riguarda certe cose, alla Marvel non piace prendere certe decisioni.
Superman ha un figlio, Batman ne ha uno, ma non gente come Spidey per dire....why?
Vabbo, poco importa per quanto riguarda Rogue and Gambo.

Captain Britain and her allies go on a good old fashioned Warwolf hunt in Excalibur #7. In perhaps the most British installment yet, writer Tini Howard brings back a major element of the original run, the Warwolves, and carefully weaves them into the new paradigm of Krakoan magic. Not only does this give us plenty of action against the wolves featuring the full Excalibur roster, but Howard continues to build on the ongoing Braddock family saga with a quick check-in with Avalon's Mad King Jamie. Guest artists Wilton Santos and Oren Junior join colorist Erick Arciniega and keep the title's lithe expressionism alive and well. The action as well, especially during the Warwolf hunt, also pops well, but with a more low-key and realistic bent in place of Marcus To's theatricality. If you've been wanting a more Marvel U.K. flavor from Dawn of X, Excalibur #7 has you covered.

Una bella lettura nel complesso, solo molto diversa da quello che mi aspettavo. In sé va avanti quasi indipendentemente dalla testata ammiraglia di Hickman e questo può essere un bene per certi aspetti.
I disegni sono ottimi e i dialoghi ben scritti, ma la trama è davvero molto corollaria e lontana dalle atmosfere che avrei preferito vedere su questa serie.
Rimane comunque una lettura interessante che mi fa piacere seguire e visto che dubito andrà avanti oltre il #12 non credo di mollare prima della fine.

Howard: Excalibur is the X-Men book that- the only one - that felt right for me to write. I wrote this complicated essay about mutants never being able to live together without peril, but now that they have a home of safety they can develop things. Excalibur is about focusing on that, on magic, and Apocalypse's theories on what mutantkind is destined for.
Howard: SO right now where w are, Betsy is going up to Captain Britain's boss - Saturynyne. They're going into Otherworld, and we're moving into a place where Otherworld is mutant expansion into another realm.
