ROARIN' RICK'S RARE BIT FIENDS #22

The first new issue of RARE BIT FIENDS in 20 years! 52 pages of dream comics from the slinky subconscious of Rick Veitch, featuring The Art Of Mercurius and Subtleman Part 2.

THE SPOTTED STONE

In a connected world of disconnected people, she thought she had it all at her fingertips. But a mysterious Spotted Stone opened a dimensional doorway, transporting her to a strange land and a new life unfettered by technology. Will she find fulfillment before the Stone returns? Rick Veitch's haunting story, told in a wordless visual narrative, is a feast for the eyes and soul.

BOY MAXIMORTAL #1

Widely acclaimed comic book visionary, Rick Veitch, author of multiple Eisner nominees Brat Pack and The Maximortal, finally returns to his legendary King Hell Heroica. Boy Maximortal continues the story of True-Man, now a teenager hiding from an increasingly desperate military while trying to come to grips with powers far beyond those of normal men, all played against a backdrop of the sleazy underworld of comic book publishing. Veitch's superhero deconstruction digs deep into the roots and heart of a cultural mythos that has come to define our times.

THE MAXIMORTAL

Comics visionary Rick Veitch marries the larcenous history of the comics business to the outrageous themes and characters of his infamous Brat pack universe, creating one of the most startling and uncompromising visions of the superhero archetype ever put to paper.

ROARIN' RICK'S RARE BIT FIENDS #23

Visionary cartoonist Rick Veitch follows the golden thread of alchemy through the eye of the needle in "The Art Of Mercurius". Triangulating dreams, mediations and history itself, Veitch finds meaning in an ancient arcane philosophy. This groundbreaking series of dream comics was nominated for two Eisner Awards.

OTZI

We know from his mummified remains that Otzi the Iceman was murdered on an Alpine glacier 5300 years ago. But who suspected that his final journey was waylaid by wormholes, parallel universes, internet start-ups and the very fringes of chaos? Enter a new dimension of graphic storytelling in an all new Panel Vision book from Rick Veitch, the Eisner nominated author of "The Spotted Stone".

CAN'T GET NO

A newly remastered edition of the book which Newsday declared "not only a landmark graphic novel or, more accurately, a graphic epic poem; it's also one of the more thoughtful and even satisfying artistic responses to Sept. 11 to date." And of which Publisher's Weekly said: "Within this oddly shaped book lies one of the most remarkable achievements in recent comics history. Veitch (Maximortal; Swamp Thing) has given the graphic novel medium what may just be its first long-form poem. The drawings tell the story of corporate drone Chad Roe, who is given a new outlook when a weekend bender leaves him tattooed on every inch of his body. His life is further upended when the World Trade Center, where his office is located, is destroyed. This book's distinct style shines through with the narrative captions that accompany Veitch's remarkable art. They don't contain the main character's inner monologue or a narrator's comments on the actions. Instead they present a satirical yet lyrical commentary on the modern American life Roe was very much a part of, but is suddenly removed from now that he is a walking piece of abstract art. It's a biting evisceration of the comfortable place many Americans convinced themselves they had, a conviction that was challenged on 9/11. The words and pictures move in and out of synch with each other, sometimes exemplifying the power and possibilities of comics. When they seem to be telling two different stories, it goes even further to show how several ideas can be communicated at once. Fortunately, Veitch's ideas are strong enough to justify the treatment.

REDEMPTION

Comics maverick Rick Veitch drops another mind bomb in his wildly unique (and Eisner-nominated) "Panel Vision" series! "Redemption" tells the vivid tale of one man confronting his deepest natural instincts while struggling to remain a functioning member of modern society. Like Veitch's other "Panel Vision" books, ("The Spotted Stone", "Otzi" and "Super Catchy"), "Redemption" is a self contained graphic parable that pushes the form of comics into new directions and genuinely delivers a reading experience like no other.

BOY MAXIMORTAL #2

The startling saga of young True-Man accelerates faster than a speeding bullet. What happens when the most powerful creature on Earth reaches puberty? What secret truth running through history has led to his manifestation? If the military catches him can he be contained? Rick Veitch continues his Eisner nominated superhero deconstruction in this highly anticipated new installment of the King Hell Heroica series.

ROARIN' RICK'S RARE BIT FIENDS #24

Acclaimed dream artist Rick Veitch distills his own alchemical opus into the third chapter of "The Art Of Mercurius", triangulating imagination, meditation and dreams into a spiritual journey and a comic book like no other. Rare Bit Fiends continues its tradition of being "the first egalitarian world community dream journal" with dozens of dream contributions from a host of artists and dreamers.

ABRAXAS AND THE EARTHMAN

ABRAXAS AND THE EARTHMAN Rick Veitch's unforgettable 8-part EPIC MAGAZINE series is finally collected as one mind-bending full color graphic novel! Abducted from earth by space whalers, Cetologist John Isaac endures physical and spiritual mutation at the hand of the mad captain Rotwang. Pressed into the hunt for a monstrous red-horned whale, Isaac finds his own destiny in the belly of Abraxas.

TOMBSTONE HAND

Comics contortionist Rick Veitch unwinds a wild western yarn with more twists and turns than the mighty Rio Grande. "Tombstone Hand" tells the tale of a tense graveside stand-off in which a man finds himself with one boot heel in this world and one in the hereafter. At stake is a prize beyond price. Like Veitch's other "Panel Vision" books, ("The Spotted Stone", "Otzi", "Redemption" and "Super Catchy"), "Tombstone Hand" is a self contained graphic parable that pushes the form of comics into new directions and genuinely delivers a reading experience like no other.

BOY MAXIMORTAL #3

Young True-Man is a higher dimensional entity enthralled by a cheap disposable fantasy, grappling with otherworldly origins while hoping to save the world. With the government hunting it down and a girlfriend obsessed with its secret identity, life for our young super being is anything but simple. Rick Veitch continues his Eisner nominated superhero deconstruction in this third incredible installment of the Boy Maximortal saga!

ROARIN' RICK'S RARE BIT FIENDS #25

Rick Veitch, oneironaut artist extraordinaire, pours his heart and soul into the fourth and final chapter of "The Art Of Mercurius", distilling imagination, meditation and dreams into a modern alchemical opus that could only happen in comics! Also in this 92 page dream comic extravaganza, the conluding installment of "Subtleman", Rick's twenty-five year history of shamanic dreams. And Rare Bit Fiends continues its tradition of being "the first egalitarian world community dream journal" with dozens of dream contributions from a pantheon of artists, poets and dreamers.

BONG! COMIX

Turn on! Tune in! Read BONG! Comics iconoclast, Rick Veitch unwraps a wild and wooly collection of Undergound Comix to feed the most discriminating head. Working solo or collaborating with Tom Veitch, Harvey Pekar, S.R. Bissette, Bill Kelley and Jack Weiner, Veitch produced a stream of mind blowing Underground short stories and novellas over his fifty year cartooning career. BONG! includes all of Veitch's hallucinatory, satirical, provocative, long-out-of-print gutter classics such as Two-Fisted Zombies, The Tell-Tale Fart, Pud Pals, Momma's Bwah and Nutpeas in one definitely Not-Safe-For-Woke volume. Adults only of course BONG! is best enjoyed while under the influence of your favorite herb!

BOY MAXIMORTAL #4

Young True-Man is a higher dimensional entity enthralled by a cheap disposable fantasy, grappling with otherworldly origins with a plan to save the world. With the President making demands and a girlfriend closing in on his secret identity, life for our young super being is about to get really complicated. Rick Veitch brings Volume Two of The King Hell Heroica to a thunderous conclusion in this fourth incredible installment of the Boy Maximortal saga!
Also included in this issue are both long out-of-print Super Specials, which launch Book Five of the King Hell Heroica!

TRUE MAN: THE MAXIMORTAL #1

Comics candyman Rick Veitch serves up another sweet morsel in his ongoing King Hell Heroica saga! True-Man is a higher dimensional creature who has been captured by the CIA and brainwashed by MK-Ultra. Seen as a way to upend world geopolitics, True-Man is being shaped and programmed into the ultimate apex predator. Meanwhile, a small group of those who care and those who fear organize to free him. The first chapter in the third graphic novel of the King Hell Heroica also includes an array of little seen or long lost short stories Rick Veitch collaborated on with Thomas Yeates, Stephen Perry and Hart Fisher

ROARIN' RICK'S RARE BIT FIENDS #26

What happens when an artist creates a character and sends him out to explore what lies beyond the walls of sleep? Rick Veitch, life long dream worker and counter culture cartoonist, is about to show you in this all new issue of his long running, Eisner-nominated dream comic, RARE BIT FIENDS! It's dream yoga like you've never seen it before following the ultimate hero's journey to the heart of the self. Also in this 100 page issue, a plethora of fellow creatives share their dream art in the Little Omens letters page section. And Rick rounds out the issue with SEVEN SATORI, comic panels that evoke zen poetry.

TRUE MAN: THE MAXIMORTAL #2

Comics crackerjack Rick Veitch detonates the next installment in his ongoing King Hell Heroica saga! TRUE-MAN is a higher dimensional entity being shaped and programmed into the ultimate weapon, a living idea so potent it has drawn super spies, jungle kings, mad scientists, philosophers, and the kid in all of us into its matrix. Part Platonic Ideal and part Neitzschean nightmare, the Maximortal is a superhero whose message is so powerful it threatens to become the medium itself. This all new 52 page chapter in the Eisner nominated King Hell Heroica also includes a forty page sampler of Veitch's long lost short comics.

Per ora diciamo che chi volesse recuperare i must-have di Veitch, in lingua può farlo tranquillamente.
Le ristampe IDW poi sono delle chicche anche per chi già possiede i due fumetti:
- The One colorato da Kirby Veitch, e con The Puzz Fundles in appendice

Nei giorni scorsi ho letto The One.
