Max Landis' contemporary re-imagining of Superman's origin jumps forward several years in issue #2, showcasing a teenage Clark wrestling with both puberty and the danger of exposing his abilities to the world. This is a somewhat darker issue than the first, but not to the point where the book loses its inherent charm. Tommy Lee Edwards' art is a fitting complement to Landis' prose. Edwards' art is heavy on the blacks, but there's also a nostalgic quality that prevents the darkness from overtaking the light. There's a sense of pragmatism to the story as Landis digs deeper into the challenges and fears of being an all-powerful alien trying to live an ordinary existence. Clark can't always succeed. Nor is it realistic to expect that his secret can be kept from everyone in Smallville. But Landis captures the core of Superman by showing that, even at this early age, he's someone who refuses to stand by when others are in danger. In that sense, this comic reads like a direct rebuttal to Man of Steel's misguided depiction of the character. -Jesse

Landis sta raccontando una storia molto...particolare!
Tutto molto godibile, non mi ha ancora "rapito", ma almeno si lascia leggere, però vedo che sta avendo un gran successo di critica...
A quanto pare vuole mostrare una nuova versione di DOOMSDAY!

P.S. Ho già capito che queste covers sono molto fuorvianti!
