Ms. Marvel is in a "once in a life" opportunity for a new character right now. She achieved recognition in the mainstream, she's adored by the hardcore, and she's now a member of the main Avengers team. Many writers would make the mistake of using this kind of opportunity to jam pack their book with A-list guest stars. Instead, G. Willow Wilson is doing such a smart thing, and doubling down on the core cast that made this book so successful. It's that structure that's continuing to push this book to new heights as Ms. Marvel is dealing with relatively low-stakes threats, the kind that don't threaten the whole world - just her world. Takeshi Miyazawa mirrors all of this in his expressive, and character-focused art. Ms. Marvel is avoiding any kind of sophomore slump by further pushing what made the book so great in the first place. –Levi

G. Willow Wilson concludes this arc by forcing Kamala to seek help from the last person she wants to: Bruno's girlfriend, Mike. Wilson develops Kamala and Mike as characters who love science, and it's their tech-savvy partnership that saves the day. Takeshi Miyazawa and Ian Herring draw an exciting six-page sequence where Kamala is in constant motion, whether sweep-kicking or leaping over trucks. I like how Miyazawa depicts conversations in wider panels where both characters interact with their environment instead of as static talking heads. Wilson tackles weighty subjects as we follow Kamala on a non-stop fun adventure.

Everyone now knows the new Ms. Marvel and what a great character Kamala Khan wound up being, but what doesn't get enough attention is her amazing supporting cast. Kamala is only as strong a person as she is because of all the other well-rounded people who inhabit her world. Now, the series has an all-new, all-different addition to that supporting cast - her name is Mike and she is wonderful! Pairing off Bruno with somebody else was a really smart move on G. Willow Wilson's part, pairing him with someone as likable as Mike is even smarter. This issue allows Kamala a chance to team-up with and become friends with her not-rival. The whole thing is very sweet and entertaining, with dynamic character acting from Takeshi Miyazawa. This volume of Ms. Marvel is showing no signs of a sophomore slump. –Levi

Juggling school and home life can be more than enough for any teenager, but being an Avenger has added a whole new level of stress to Kamala's life. What's so impressive about this issue is the way that G. Willow Wilson is able to show these different demands on Kamala's life in meaningful ways - this type of story has been done before, but all the different responsibilities just wind up feeling like cliches, rather than true problems. On art for this issue is Nico Leon, who delivers a cheery, animated style to all aspects of Ms. Marvel's life. Ms. Marvel #4 is another excellent issue of family dynamics and goofy superhero scenarios. –Levi
