c'entra niente, ma di prez ricordo un vecchio one-shot vertigo scritto da un giovanissimo Brubaker, dove il personaggio di Prez era basato su Kurt Cobain.
che poi, c'entra niente, adesso che ci penso

If you combined the political wheeling and dealing of Steven Spielberg's Lincoln with the kooky, near future landscape of Transmetropolitan, you'd arrive at Prez #2. With this issue, writer Mark Russell shows far more interest than the original Prez creators ever did in exploring just how an upstart teenager manages to get themselves elected President in the first place. As he traces that journey, Russell's script delivers a steady stream of comedy and political satire, juxtaposed with the very real drama as Beth struggles to deal with her dying father. It does seem a little odd that Beth is so disconnected and uninvolved from her own campaign. She's not quite the charismatic, inspirational figure Prez Rickard was in the original series. Still, the balance of satire and drama, combined with the delightfully cartoonish visuals of Ben Caldwell, make this book well worth following for what's going to end up being an all-too-brief run. -Jesse

Prez continues to be a pitch-perfect send up of the American political system. Beth has to choose a cabinet and also come to a very real understanding about what having this job means. Politics is an overtly corrupt arena and she represents everything that career politicians hate. Mark Russell's writing is humorous but within it there are some real truths. (The bit about the pork bill had me howling.) This is how you write satire. And Ben Caldwell's art is a great match. It's bright and busy to fit the world that Beth lives in but it works really well in more contemplative moments as well. Now what do we have to do to get more books like this out of DC?
