Willem Dafoe's "Justice League" Character Revealed

After a month of speculation swirling about Willem Dafoe's "Justice League" role, Warner Bros. has confirmed -- as rumors correctly posited) that the "Spider-Man" actor will play an Atlantean ally of the Justice League in Zack Snyder's upcoming film -- specifically, Vulko. The news was revealed to press including CBR News on a visit to the film's London set.
In the comics, Vulko -- created by Bob Haney and Howard Purcell and first introduced in 1967 -- played a major role in Aquaman's origin, and in the 2012-2013 "Aquaman"/"Justice League" crossover "Throne of Atlantis." A loyal servant to Aquaman, Vulko showed Arthur Curry his birthright and home of Atlantis. Vulko even incited the violent Atlantean War just so he could get Aquaman to reclaim the throne.

There are no details at this point as to the scope of Vulko's role in "Justice League," or if Dafoe will be playing the character again in director James Wan's "Aquaman" film, but it seems a safe bet that an Oscar-nominated actor of Dafoe's caliber will likely have a key role in the "Justice League."

Allora: una notizia buona ed una un po'.. Meh!

Innanzitutto il logo è bellissimo, mi piace un sacco, ultimamente alla DC piacciono i loghi vintage .. Molto meglio di quei caratteri impersonali di Man of Steel/Batman v Superman!

- Jonathan Kent taught me that the strong have to stand up for the weak and that bullies don't like being bulled back. He taught me that a good heart is worth more than all the money in the bank. He taught me about life and death. He taught me that a measure of a man lies not in what he says, but what he does. And he showed me by example how to be tough, and how to be kind and how to dream of a better world. Thanks Pa. Those are lessons I'll never forget.

First Look at "Justice League's" Upgraded Batmobile, More New Bat-Tech Revealed
CitazioneThe threats in 2017's "Justice League" look to amp up in a big way from this year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," especially for Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) -- moving from targeting one Kryptonian to defending Earth from Steppenwolf and a horde of Parademons, all part of DC Comics' Jack Kirby-created "Fourth World." As such, the Dark Knight's technology looks to evolve as well -- including an upgraded Batmobile with some added weaponry. Warner Bros. has revealed the first look at the "Justice League" Batmobile, seen below.
Like "Batman v Superman," this Batmobile was designed by production designer Patrick Tatopoulos. The "Justice League" Batmobile retains the overall look of the previous film, along with some added firepower -- showing that, despite a shift to a generally brighter direction, the movie isn't backing down from criticism of the heavily armed Batman of "BvS."

"You have missile launchers, you have cannons, you have machine guns," Tatopoulos said of the "Justice League" Batmobile, in a group interview with reporters during a visit to the film's London set.

Since "Justice League" is a team movie, the Batmobile won't be the only mode of transport featured in the film. The movie will introduce the "Flying Fox," a large airship for team travel -- big enough to fit the Batmobile inside. A set hasn't yet been built for the Flying Fox -- "Justice League" is still relatively early into production -- but concept art was shown to press, though it has not yet been released wide and photos were not allowed during the set visit.

"It's big enough for the Batmobile and it can house other Bat-gadgets," DC Films producer Charles Roven told reporters. "It's definitely its own self-contained, fantastic piece of equipment."

Along with the Flying Fox, "Justice League" also adds a one-person vehicle called the "Nightcrawler," a smaller piece of Batman-created tech that will sport multiple legs, designed to shimmy through tight spaces. No pictures have yet been shared publicly of the Nightcrawler.

"There's an action set piece -- we're gonna take you to this tunnel," franchise producer Deborah Snyder told reporters. "It's a tunnel they were gonna build between Metropolis and Gotham and it had been abandoned, so the project never really went forward. But there's abandoned remains of what started to be this tunnel. It's pretty hard to get the Batmobile through there, so it's nice to have the Crawler, which can maneuver."

Additionally, Batman will add another armored Batsuit to his arsenal, along with a more standard outfit. "Justice League" costume designer Michael Wilkinson described it as the "tactical Batsuit;" no images are yet available.

"In the final chapter of our film, Batman realizes he has to step up his game a little bit," Wilkinson told reporters. "He and Alfred have been working on developing a suit that's even more protective than the classic suit."

"Justice League" Aims to Be 'More Inclusive,' Less Dark than "Batman v Superman"
Citazione"I think the main thing we learned is that people don't like to see their heroes deconstructed," "Batman v Superman" and "Justice League" producer Deborah Snyder told reporters, during the press visit to the London set. "I think that's hard, because it's people we've grown up with and we care about. They like seeing them in all their glory."

As further proof that "Justice League" appears to be aimed in a relatively brighter direction, the set visit culminated in "Man of Steel," "BvS" and "Justice League" director Zack Snyder showing an early cut of a clip where Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) and Barry Allen/The Flash (Ezra Miller) meet for the first time. The scene is witty, warm and contains genuine laughs, all things in deliberately short supply in previous DC Films productions.

"When I saw the scene, I was like, 'Oh, God, this is fun,'" Zack Snyder told reporters. "This is an interesting way of understanding how the movies have gone in a progression. By no means is this the whole movie. There are parts of the movie, of course, where they're facing enemies and they have to get their stuff together. Look at the Batmobile, for God's sake. You know, they're going to be drawn into conflict. I'm a fan of 'Magnificent Seven' and team-making movies. So it's fun for me to finally get to this point now in the progression of these three movies where we are building a team and making the Justice League."

Miller himself appears to be a major driving force in the change of tone between films. The Flash, as a character, often represents the spirit of fun and adventure of classic DC Comics -- as seen both in print and the current "The Flash" TV series on The CW -- and based on limited time spent observing him in action on set, it looks like the 23-year-old Miller has captured that with a clear sense of youthful energy.

"'Justice League' is much more inclusive [than 'Batman v Superman,']" Deborah Snyder told reporters, differentiating the currently-in-production film from "BvS," which received an R-rating for its "Ultimate Edition" home release. "It's all about the characters, too. We have these two very young characters, Flash and Cyborg. And you know, they're definitely lighter. I think they're going to appeal to a younger audience.

This shift in attitude is represented outwardly in Affleck's Batman, who in "BvS" was portrayed as a hardened vigilante. As stated in the "Justice League" logline, he's had his "faith in humanity restored," prompting him to gather the titular team of superpowered heroes.

"This is now not a guy at the end of his rope but kind of a guy at the beginning," Affleck told reporters. "Starting over, reborn and believing. Finding hope. The thing that he's hopeful for, he's holding onto desperately. And he really believes in this idea of forming this group."

Though it appears certain "Justice League" will be a notably different film than "Batman v Superman," it's also evident that it won't simply be lighthearted fare -- as Zack Snyder himself pointed out, the film's Batmobile is even more heavily armed than in "BvS," as the team faces the otherworldly threat of Steppenwolf. Additionally, the filmmakers are quick to state that while the reaction to "Batman v Superman" did have an effect, this was the direction they were headed in already.
"I think it's all a creative process and you're always changing and evolving as you go," Deborah Snyder told CBR News. "We've been working on the script, we're aware of things. I know we wanted to always make this film to bring up these characters. So obviously I think it's affected the process in some way, but it was also kind of where we were headed."

"Where we were headed" appears to be a place closer to the comic book source material, something mentioned by both Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder.

"This is a movie about coming together," Deborah Snyder said. "It's a movie about building them up. So this is really an arc that we started. We have to go somewhere. You have to start from somewhere to really get to that point. But I think we're gonna see all the heroes in a way that people know them from the comic books."

For Zack Snyder's part, he cited similar motivations specifically influencing the decision to kill Superman (Henry Cavill) in the climax of "BvS." Though it's hardly a secret that the character will return in "Justice League," it's currently unknown as to exactly how that will happen.

"I wanted to get to a Superman that had a reason to be Superman, a reason to feel the way he felt about humanity, that we all understand from the comic books," Zack Snyder told reporters. "As far as a moral compass goes, he's pretty much the thing. But I feel like he had to go through something to be that."

Come anticipato il film sarà molto differente da BvS, meno "dark", ma questo non vuol dire che diventerà un comedy :nono:

-Justice League takes place months after the events of Batman v Superman.
-A big chunk of the movie will focus on Batman assembling the team, with Superman (sporting some longer hair) set to return a little later on.
-Steppenwolf has yet to be cast and will be one of the main villains. Darkseid's influence will be felt, the Parademons will appear, and Lex Luthor may have some sort of role.
-Batman will upgrade his suit and we'll see a new version of his armoured suit towards the end of the movie.
-Bruce Wayne builds a jet called the "Flying Fox" for the team to use.
-Batman will have a new vehicle called the "Nightcrawler" designed by his father.
-Willem Dafoe is playing Vulko, a mentor to Aquaman.
-Mera is a warrior and sorceress and her costume which have chainmail which blends in with her skin.
-J.K. Simmons will have the classic Commissioner Gordon look.
-The Flash's initial costume will be pieced together by space suits and held together by wire. However, Batman later creates a much more streamlined suit for him to wear.
-Cyborg's costume will be 100% CGI.
-Junkie XL is scoring the movie, but Hans Zimmer's role has yet to be confirmed.
