Announcing a New Writer for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe

Keith Giffen (OMAC, GREEN ARROW) has joined HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE as writer, starting with issue #2 out on September 5. Giffen will continue the stories of many favorite heroes and villains from Eternia in the six issue, limited print series.  We asked Giffen to share his thoughts on joining HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE and he explained:

"He-Man and friends were a big part of my son's young life. That meant that they became a big part of my life too.  I can still rattle off the plotlines to more than a few of the cartoons and am still pretty good at reattaching the arms and legs of woefully abused action figures.  I'm thinking that more than qualifies me to write the HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE comic book.  Well... that and the fact that I so want to.  I mean, c'mon... it's He-Man!"

Issue #1 of HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE is on sale now, and keep an eye out for Giffen's first issue (#2) coming in September.

Complimenti pure per l'annuncio, Giffen che ha "joined HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE as writer", non che ha più brutalmente e semplicemente rimpiazzato Robinson (di cui tra l'altro non si fa nemmeno parola)...

a me tra marvel e dc mi stanno facendo cadere sempre più i maroni a terra, ultimamente. mi sa che se mi girano le bolas una volta per tutte, mando tutti sonoramente affanculo definitivamente e non vedono più un cent da parte mia, eccezion fatta per mini varie e quelle 2-3 serie che ancora mi interessano (Bats, JLA, GL e Flash)

A New Sandman Series By Neil Gaiman And JH Williams III?

A few years ago, Neil Gaiman was approached by DC Comics to write a new chapter in the Sandman series. He referred to it as Sandman Zero, it would tell the story of what Dream was up to, when he was captured by humans, trying to enslave Death.

However, Gaiman describes the contract ofered as less than ideal, giving him similar terms as when he began the book. And, that as a sucessful and famous fantasy author, his added value was considerable. He proposed a solution, to increase the percantage on his other Sandman work being printed over a much longer period of time, that would make up for the loss. DC Comics declined, so Gaiman went on to write the novel The Graveyard book instead, which did very well.

Now, seemingly in the light of Before Watchmen, DC have approached Neil Gaiman again. And based on the bar talk at San Diego last night, we can presume that this time, if it is indeed the same Sandman premise and not something new, negotiations have been more successful.

And on art, is one artist who I was told had a new prokect, Batwoman and Promethea's JH Williams III.

If true, one might expect an announcement sooner rather than later. DC Vertigo are publishing the new Sandman Slipcase Set, a new collection of Gaiman's Neil Gaiman's Midnight Days Deluxe Edition work and there is a prominent Sandman visual at the San Diego booth this year. I'd heard some rumours about Sandman being reintroduced into the New52 recently that were denied at the highest levels, so I didn't report them. This one is far more widespread however, and also a tad more believable.

Especially with the rumour that Williams III had a big new DC project to announce this week...

Nota a margine: a sti punto la DC non so davvero se ci è o ci fa. Sei in periodo di magra, vai da Neil Gaiman, uno di quelle tre-quattro persone che hanno fatto la fortuna della tua etichetta indipendente e gli proponi un contratto con i termini che offriresti a un novellino, lui rifiuta e tu lo lasci andare.
Incomincio a sospettare che le scimmie urlatrici che hanno preso possesso degli uffici Warner abbiano esteso il loro dominio a quelli DC.
