Vendo vari Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, Frank Miller

We are called Cybermen. We were exactly like you once, but our cybernetic scientists realised that our race was getting weak. Our lifespan was getting shorter, so our scientists and doctors devised spare parts for our bodies until we could be almost completely replaced. Our brains are just like yours, except that certain weaknesses have been removed. Weaknesses like... emotions, pain. You will become like us. You will be upgraded.

Sook come al solito ineccepibile
I've got new kidneys. I don't like the colour.

DC's new digital book features Batman and Robin in Dustin Nguyen's signature style enjoying Halloween.
BATMAN: LI'L GOTHAM is a digital book available on Comixology app/website for the price of 99 cents. This is not available in print form currently. However, many of the digital DC books eventually make it into a printed collection.

The Good
This book is made to fit your tablet or phone. You won't have to jumble around, rotating the screen to get it to fully use the screen. This book uses the space incredibly well. Now, because of the fact it's a digital book and it's a bit cheaper, you're obviously getting a bit less than a traditional comic book. You get roughly half as much; however, the story fits into this smaller format very well. Think of this book more of a comic strip than an actual comic book, and you'll enjoy it a whole lot more.

How long have fans been waiting for this? Ever since we first saw Dustin Nguyen draw the characters of Gotham in his "Li'l" style, fans have been clamoring for this book, and it's finally here. LI'L GOTHAM does not disappoint.

This book works well for kids as well as for adults. We get some great messages for kids about being nice to one another, and we get some little quips that are pretty darn funny, from an adult perspective. It's a book you and your child/niece/nephew/grandchild/brother/sister/etc can enjoy together. Some of the words within this issue may be a little beyond a young reader's grasp though. Keep that in mind. Writers Dustin Nguyen and Derek Fridolfs do a fantastic job here.

It's Dustin Nguyen's pet project. There's a lot of love here, when it comes to the art, and it shows. Artwise, this may be my favorite work he's done on a Batman book. It ranks right up there with STREETS OF GOTHAM and Heart of Hush. This is one colorful book which only adds to the feeling of fun. This is a great showcase of Dustin Nguyen having a great time with art.

The Bad
If you don't have a phone or a tablet capable of using the Comixology app, you're stuck reading it on the computer. To me, it loses a bit of its fun on the computer. There's just something a bit more satisfying about reading a comic on your phone or tablet.

The Verdict
If you're a fan of Dustin Nguyen's art, buy this book. Seriously, it's only 99 cents. You'll have a dumb smile on your face the entire time you read it. This book is a fantastic showcase of Dustin Nguyen's love for the world of Batman. It's great for kids as well as adults. The only down side I saw to this issue was that it's currently only digital. I know quite a few people only want to read physical books, but if anything, this is a good "gateway drug" into digital.

Storia carinissima, mi ha regalato un paio di minuti di sorrisi.

Ecco, l'unica cosa che non capisco è perché si rifiutino di chiedere aiuto per le vignette in altre lingue, possibile che debbano usare -male- google translate?

Comunque

You don't just get the New 52 origin for one Superman villain, you get two. Plus check out the developments with Lex Luthor.
The Good
Lately the annuals in the New 52 have taken one of two routes. We either get an expanded continuation of a story from the regular series or we get a separate story with a focus on characters or story. The later is what we get here.

The main story by Sholly Fisch and Cully Hamner gives us the origin of the new Kryptonite Man. This isn't the same K-Man as before. What does this mean for the original, Dr. Abernathy? You'll have to read to find out his role. The person you see on the cover may be familiar as he has appeared in previous issues of ACTION COMICS (in a sort of different form) and was briefly mentioned before as well. He has a grudge against Superman and is willing to do whatever it takes to get his revenge.

Along with the appearance of the new Kryptonite Man, we also see the return of Steel and Lex Luthor. Mixed into the story we get to find out what they've been up to and where they'll be going next.

The back up story is an 8-page silent feature written by Max Landis (you can check our interview with him HERE) and art by Ryan Sook. It's a beautifully drawn story and Landis' tale will amaze and creep you out at the same time. This new Atomic Skull will be interesting to see whenever he pops up later.

The Bad
I'm torn over the art in the main feature. I'm a fan of Hamner but there are times when his art doesn't quite fit the story. We do get some cool action scenes but there were moments this didn't quite look like a slightly younger New 52 Superman.

The design for the new Kryptonite Man was just okay. I wasn't completely wowed by it and his motivation doesn't really have me itching to see more.

The Verdict
We've been wondering where the classic Superman villains are and we're finally getting them. As annuals should, this double sized issue focuses on giving us the origin of the New 52 versions of Kryptonite Man and Atomic Skull. They both have similar stories to their original counterparts but the update is fitting for the new 'universe.' Sholly Fisch gets the chance to step away from the back ups in giving a fully length feature and Max Landis makes his comic writing debut with a chilling silent story illustrated by Ryan Sook. Both villains may not blow you away but seeing them in an issue focused on their story rather than mixed into a regular one allows for more exploration into who they are. This is what comic book annuals should do, rather than continue a story from the main series.

And here I was worried I wouldn't get a DC Halloween special. Although L'il Gotham Chapter #1 isn't what I expected, I couldn't be happier. Co-written by Dustin Nguyen (who also provides all the art) and Derek Fridolfs, L'il Gotham is a shining jewel in DC Digital's crown. It's everything a longtime DC fan has come to expect from a holiday issue. Watching Batman try and teach his rather embittered son Damian the joys of Halloween will warm the coldest fan's heart. Nguyen's watercolors are truly gorgeous and are packed with enough Easter Eggs to keep you scanning the page long after you've finished the story. You won't find a better use of 99 cents. Ever.

KATANA, VIBE Get Solo Series February 2013 at DC Comics

We wondered what would replace the four titles being canceled in January 2013. We knew about Justice League of America, and now two more series have been revealed, but you may think it's some kind of prank.

Are you ready for Vibe #1 and Katana #1? That's what's coming in February 2013 from DC Comics, announced today on MTV Geek. The two series will tie into the new home of the characters, JLA. Katana spins-off from the character's current title, Birds of Prey. The book will be written by Ann Nocenti and drawn by Alex Sanchez. Arrow creator Andrew Kreisberg and artist Pete Woods take on Vibe.

Nothing else was said about the series, though more is promised as the day progresses. Green Arrow also gets the new creative team of Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino in February.

That still leaves one more title to round out the magic number of 52 that month, a number that DC still loves. There will be 52 variant covers for Justice League of America #1, featuring each state in the country getting a spotlight.

More on the new series as it comes in.
