There was something special about the original Black Magick arc that seems to be missing from this one. The original arc was a gem, a weird thing that seemed too good to be true. This arc, while good, lacks... something. Maybe it's because the first arc exists this one doesn't seem as special, maybe this one is just... less? This is still one of the most gorgeous books around. I do not know how this book would exist without Nicola Scott's hauntingly exquisite art. The main reason I read this is book is for the soft and haunting art, that is occasionally stained red as fire or magic or blood erupts on the page. This issue isn't doing much for me though. Rowan is under surveillance by those who know she's a witch. She does detective stuff. Her partner is oblivious. While this issue isn't altogether special, the ending does hint that changes are on the way and not a moment too soon. This arc has leaned heavy on the police procedural aspect of the book, and with Halloween right around the corner, it's time for darkness and magic to bloom and blossom. I want horror to return to Black Magick. -Tara
