CBR: The Clockwork Killer stands revealed, with two issues to go, as Martha Wayne, the Joker of the Flashpoint timeline. Looking back, were there any big clues leading up to the culprit's reveal?

Geoff Johns: If you go back, there's really nobody else it could be that's as personally connected to Thomas Wayne and knows exactly what pain he's felt and what he's confronted. When you see Issue #5, with all the pieces, it'll be really clear what she's been doing and why. There could be no other answer and culprit that would be attacking Thomas Wayne on such a personal level than his wife.

Tim Sheridan: Also, who has the same insane level of investment that has motivated Thomas in all of this?

Johns: Early on, when we started coming up with this mystery, there was never a question of whom the culprit was because, if you're going to put these two people against one another, Batman and the Joker are eternal, no matter what form they are. This one, in particular, I find so much more emotional than the Batman and Joker we know because they have a history and a relationship, a love and a hatred between both of them.

The other wild card in this is Dexter, who has stepped up to become the Robin of this world. What was it about having the son of Two-Face become the Boy Wonder of this Hypertime adventure?

Jeremy Adams: That's been such a fun thing, just in the background, him learning all these things. We established that Oswald [Cobblepot] is just like, "Yeah, I guess let's just do this!" [laughs]

Sheridan: Robin, for Batman, always represents Batman's hope for the future. When we started talking about this and were less focused on the past but on the future of this timeline and world, Dexter is someone that Thomas very much sees a lot of young Bruce in. It made a lot of sense, and to include a Thomas Wayne version of Robin going forward was super fun for us.

Johns: Yeah, it's a much more dangerous Robin. It's just a Robin who comes from a very different place than any other Robin before him, and I think that's what makes it so fun.

Flashpoint Beyond isn't just a continuation of the Flashpoint timeline, but it also has visible links to Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths and Doomsday Clock. How is it having this story be an omniversal linchpin to what's going on in the DCU?

Johns: Wait until you read Issue #5! [laughs] In Issue #5, we really dive in with what's happening in this storyline with Thomas and Bruce in Hypertime and what's happening in the regular DC Universe. We even go all the way back to the first Crisis, Zero Hour, The Kingdom, and everything Mark Waid and Grant Morrison did with Hypertime, which was brilliant. We do touch upon how this fits into the grander scope of the DC Universe, but more important is the emotional anchor to the storyline, which is Thomas and Bruce.

That emotional anchor, how important that is and [how it] does affect the universe, is what Hypertime is based on emotionality. The timeline splits when at a point of choice or change of direction, but it only splits when there's a giant emotional impact, and I think that's what makes Hypertime more interesting to me. The timeline doesn't split if we decide to have spaghetti [at] lunch instead of a sandwich, but it does split when there's somebody who has a great impact on the world and is at an emotional crossroads and chooses a path -- that's when it splits.

Sheridan: I did pitch the spaghetti timeline. [laughs]

Adams: One of the reasons I like it in this particular context is that we're playing in DC continuity, and that makes that emotional choice have more weight than if this was a solo book that wasn't going to matter on anything. This matters, not just to these characters, but this universe. To me as a nerd, I love that and that we're still acknowledging everything else going on.

Davvero molto interessante anche la nuova intervista. Questo concetto di "emozione" nell'Ipertempo è un po' strano ma molto interessante. Anche perché viene da Geoff, che con lo Spettro Emozionale ci ha dimostrato che Vita = Emozione.
Ora scopriamo che le emozioni possono influenzare il flusso temporale.

O meglio, le azioni che derivano dalle emozioni. Meglio ancora: le Azioni significative derivano dalle Emozioni.



E quindi  Vita = Emozioni = Azioni (signifjcative) ---> centralità del "Man of Action" nel Multiverso.

...ma se le Azioni spinte da Emozioni influenzano anche l'Ipertempo, allora la centralità del "Man of Action" va estesa a tutto il Divine Continuum

È qualcosa che dona anche più importanza al concetto del Multiverso e differenzia quello DC da tutti gli altri che mi sono sempre sembrati un po' banali...
Cioè se finisci per creare un intero mondo solo perchè oggi hai deciso di mangiare un piatto di spaghetti invece di una pizza e poi estendi questa cosa a tutte le persone e le miriadi di decisioni che prendono, persone che sono già morte e che devono ancora nascere, quindi ovviamente hai davanti un Omniverso in continua espansione, tendente all'infinito, ma con countless Earths che sono virtualmente IDENTICHE tra di loro...

Nah, la cosa perde il suo fascino imho.

La mini di Azzarello su Bat-Thomas vale la pena leggere, prova a fare uno sforzo, secondo me potrebbe anche piacerti, chissene di Batman, è proprio la storia e ciò che affronta e COME lo fa che conta per davvero.

A me ha veramente commosso con quel discorso.
Sono sicuro che lui in questo frangente non si stesse limitando a parlare solo dei comics, ma al proprio lutto e come sia riuscito ad andare *oltre* but yeah...non tutti ci riescono.

Ma come diceva anche in 3 Jokers, ci sono ferite che sono troppo profonde e anche se non senti dolore...ti rimane comunque la cicatrice.

Ti riferisci in senso generale?

Per come la vedo io, nella maggior parte dei casi, il dolore fa male e abbrutisce, non serve, non è necessario, non ti rende migliore. Ti logora piano piano fino al punto in cui vuoi solo sparire il prima e il meno dolorosamente possibile.
