Killadelphia avrà la sua buona dose di horror ma questo spin-off è un calcio nei maroni! Primo numero splatter e horror come Dio comanda e una protagonista con un passato difficilissimo che non riesce a superare. Quanto le è accaduto è davvero drammatico (e per nulla lontano dalla realtà) ma trova lo stesso la motivazione per aiutare gli altri, anche se l'aiuto che vuole dare è su un campo molto particolare.
Il demone Corson già visto su Killadelphia è uno dei fili conduttori tra le due serie, l'altro è legato alla sfera sentimentale di Nita.

Si scopre qui di chi era un tempo il corpo ormai posseduto che sta macellando di qua e di là per le strade di Baltimora. E ancora una volta la caratterizzazione dei personaggi è ottima.
Anche per quanto riguarda Nita abbiamo un altro flashback legato alle sue perdite, come sempre ben rappresentato sia a livello grafico che a livello di drammaticità.

. Proprio di quest'ultimo qui apprendiamo la modalità della sua morte e sì.. anche qui molto drammatica la faccenda, anche solo per come è arrivata la sua fine.
Finalmente nel finale la Harden si sblocca e comincia a seguire Nita, che riceve delle visite inaspettate..!

Rodney Barnes ormai per me è una conferma!
Gestisce i protagonisti davvero bene e riesce a intrecciare le trame con facilità, facendo aumentare sempre di più la voglia di scoprire altri dettagli, altre storie e altri personaggi! Ad esempio con

riporta sotto i riflettori Jimmy da Killadelphia, perché strettamente legato a Nita, mettendola a conoscenza di una news importante su di lui che, già s'è visto, le darà parecchi pensieri.
Ottime le pagine dello scontro con Corson, che nonostante la batosta riesce a far fare a Nita un bel viaggetto. Da notare che

Con questo numero si chiude il primo caso per Nita ed è a tutti gli effetti per lei un battesimo del fuoco.

Qualche dettaglio in più sul perchè l'assassino sia ancora in giro nel regno terreno e su quanto accaduto quando ancora era in vita. È proprio vero, sono più pericolose le persone che si avvicinano al regno oscuro per trarne vantaggio che i demoni al suo interno..

La setta che ha creato il fantasma assassino che ancora lo segue tutt'ora è curiosa come faccenda, come se dovessero avere conferma di quello che fa, se porta a termine le sue uccisioni oppure no. Nita ora può anche smettere di cercare prove visto che il problema è andato dritto da lei!
Nello sfondo grazie ad Anansi capiamo che un'altra cosa potrebbe essere prossima alla partenza, ovvero

ha appesantito molto la situazione e non me l'aspettavo! Quello che Corson ha cominciato a Philadelphia e visto in Killadelphia ora si riflette qui in questa serie.

Per essere potente questa entità è potente (e nel finale sembra aver assunto un altro aspetto), ma arriverà la parola "fine" anche per lei, resta da capire come potrà Nita sconfiggerla, ora che hanno trovato la casa dove tutto è cominciato.

Con un "piccolo" aiuto Nita archivia anche questo caso. È riuscita ad imparare molte cose che l'hanno fatta maturare, sia a livello mentale che sul campo e quanto ha imparato ora se lo sta portando a Philadelphia, teatro della guerra che si può leggere sulla serie Killadelphia. Filo conduttore, il suo vecchio amore.
