Batgirl continues to be a hero on the move, even if she should take a moment to get checked for a concussion. As her pursuit of The Teacher takes her from China to Korea, Babs continues to search for answers, even if it means leaving Kai behind. While the pace of this book still moves along at a break-neck speed, it manages to mostly maintain a certain charm and character that keep its flaws from becoming too much of a hindrance. Things will need to slow down just a little bit eventually, but not quite yet. If anything, it looks like the action will be picking up even more speed next issue. And really, whenever Rafael Albuquerque is on a book, that alone is worth the sticker price. His style works so well for Hope Larson's characterization of the titular character, and the "star struck" panel is wonderfully charming. - Joe

The plot in this first arc has become a bit convoluted as Batgirl continues to bounce from one Asian city to the next. What began as a simple tale of Batgirl taking a vacation and getting in touch with her inner warrior has suddenly become an international romp involving wacky villains spawned by the horrors of cram school. Still, at least this series has a flavor all its own even as it builds on what came before in the New 52. And writer Hope Larson easily captures Babs' voice as a woman relishing the opportunity to spread her wings and test her mettle outside of her familiar Gotham surroundings. And naturally, Rafael Albuquerque's art is a huge selling point. Albuquerque renders some truly dynamic fight scenes, tossing in a healthy amount of manga-influenced flourish to match the setting. Dave McCaig's colors enhance the textured quality of Albuquerque's work and bring a more vibrant feel to the usual grim Batman universe. -Jesse

Hope Larson wraps up her first arc on Batgirl with the strongest issue of the series so far. All the country-hopping caused previous issues to feel a bit scattered, but the final battle against Teacher is focused and exciting. One of the more charming aspects of this book since its debut has been the subtle manga/anime influence, and that is on full display here. Not just through Rafa Albuquerque's stellar art, but Larson's script features all the classic "big battle" anime tropes, particularly the mid-battle journey into Batgirl's mind. It basically plays like an episode of Dragonball Z, minus the giant energy beams. And now Babs has a new trick up her sleeve, though it may ultimately do more harm than good. As mentioned, the slick anime style Albuquerque infuses this book with is outstanding. He and colorist Dave McCaig give Teacher a great Sailor Moon villain look. - Joe
