The Blob may be a classic X-Men villain, but even in his current powered-up state he's not really an antagonist capable of supporting a multi-issue storyline. This issue continues Dennis Hopeless efforts to use the Blob conflict as a means of exploring each character's state of mind. That means there's a lot of clunky, ponderous introspection and not a great deal of plot progression. In general, Hopeless has a solid handle on his cast of characters, but this repetitive, caption-heavy approach lacks subtlety and doesn't really do much for any of the X-Men. This issue gets by mainly on the strength of Mark Bagley's storytelling. Bagley captures the raw fury of The Blob unleashed, and he really impresses in a climactic scene where Angel finally cuts loose in retaliation. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this series will truly move forward until it takes part in the "Apocalypse Wars" crossover. -Jesse

Questo numero mi è piaciuto moooolto di più! :sisi: Hopeless dovrebbe scrivere sempre così, ovvero dal POV di ogni membro di ANXM! :ahsisi:
Ci aspetta ancora qualche numero filleroso e poi parte Apocalypse Wars! :D

All-New X-Men #6 (Published by Marvel Comics; Review by David Pepose; 'Rama Rating: 8 out of 10):

While I was less than a fan of the flagship X-title over in Extraordinary X-Men, Dennis Hopeless is two for two this week with All-New X-Men #6, which evokes a lot of Ultimate Spider-Man thanks to Mark Bagley's thoughtful pencils and Hopeless's commitment to portraying real, three-dimensional voices of this book's teenage cast. As the team fights to stop the Blob from rampaging across Paris, Hopeless pulls a neat trick by constantly switching to each character's internal monologues - while inexperienced readers might do a double-take upon the first jump, it winds up being an effective tool, humanizing each character and giving them some really meaty inner drama to deal with, such as Beast being scientifically outpaced by this new world or Wolverine and Angel grappling with a breakup. Bagley impresses with the beautiful fight sequences here, aided by some beautifully energetic colors by Nolan Woodard. While the end of the issue does veer into the realm of graphic violence, beyond that one misstep, this is the best X-title you aren't reading.

As great as it's been to see Dennis Hopeless deal with some of the oldest and most enduring X-Men villains in this series, it's not easy to frame a conflict around the likes of Blob and Toad in this day and age. But this issue breathes new life into that conflict as Toad takes center stage and holds Cyclops captive. Hopeless provides a compelling, tragic look at a mutant who had built a happy life for himself at the Jean Grey School and then lost everything. Not only is this issue emotionally gut-wrenching, it's also very claustrophobic and unsettling thanks to to catacomb setting and the physical suffering Cyclops endures. Mark Bagley is adept at conveying that sense of claustrophobia in his art, relying on heavy shadows and close-up shots. Bagley's work when it comes to the rest of the team is comparatively more plain, but this is really Cyclops and Toad's story at the end of the day. -Jesse

DR.STRANGE DAY!
:sisi:

This issue serves as a transitional chapter as the books shifts from the opening conflict with The Blob and Toad to the events of "The Apocalypse Wars." Frankly, it reads more like a filler issue than an integral addition to the series. As intriguing as the idea of pairing a young Hank McCoy with an older, world-weary Doctor Strange is, this issue never digs very deep into their "science vs. mysticism" dynamic. As usual, Hank struggles with his inability to return his friends back to their own timeline. Meanwhile, Strange alludes to the the magical trials he's been facing in his own series. Neither character seems particularly changed or affected by their brief team-up. The art at least makes some effort to replicate the surreal, supernatural aura of Doctor Strange's series, but apart from the solid use of color (and lack thereof), this visuals are fairly stiff and lifeless. -Jesse
