You really have to hand it to the Sinestro creative team. This current storyline has all the scope and drama of classic Green Lantern crossovers like The Sinestro Corps War, yet it's all contained within one humble little monthly comic. Cullen Bunn even crams a number of Geoff Johns-worthy moments into this massive battle between Sinestro's growing army and the emotion-devouring members of the Paling. Whether it's Arkillo being mistaken for a hero or Sinestro unleashing his secret weapons, there are numerous standout scenes here. Not everything is entirely rosy, though. It would have been nice if Bunn were a little more judicious in which popular DC characters were inducted into the Sinestro Corps. Seeing the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman wielding rings not only goes against their character, it promotes the idea that any random person is capable of wielding any color ring. The art is also a bit spotty as it bounces between Brad Walker and Neil Edwards. Neither artist is quite able to deliver the intricately rendered work they're known for, and the issue has a slight rushed quality in many pages. -Jesse

This series might have wrapped up its last extended storyline already, but never does it feel as though Sinestro is simply coasting to the finish line. Writer Cullen Bunn uses this penultimate chapter to explore the fallout of the battle with the Paling, both in terms of Sinestro's diminished status and the rise of Soranik Natu to her new position as Sinestro Corps leader. Both elements make for compelling reading, especially when they intersect and Sinestro tries to position himself as right-hand-man to the queen. It's especially fascinating to watch Soranik struggle with her new position, the pressures that come with it and the realization that her father is a more complicated and troubled man than she ever would have given him credit for. Martin Coccolo's art is generally impressive here, outside of a few panels that suffer from hazy detail and wonky anatomy. Generally, his work is notable for its strong facial work and heightened emotion. Reading this issue makes it all the more disappointing that the series won't be continuing for DC Rebirth, and that Bunn won't be attached to the Green Lantern franchise any longer. -Jesse
