Wynd #1 will be available for sale on June 17, 2020 just one week after the release of Tynion IV's Something is Killing the Children Vol. 1, what BOOM! says is the top ordered graphic novel in the comics industry for that month, and DC's Batman #92, also written by Tynion IV.

Each issue of Wynd will feature over 40 pages of story.

Tynion IV and Dialynas previously collaborated on the GLAAD Award winning series The Woods.

WYND #1 (BOOM! STUDIOS)

James Tynion IV, Michael Dialynas and Aditya Bidikar's Wynd #1 was originally designed to be part of the first installment of a YA fantasy graphic novel trilogy. Now reformatted as a limited series for its early release, Wynd #1 offers a charming introduction to its fantasy world. The series follows Wynd, a boy with a mystical secret in a land where magic is punishable by death who eventually gets embroiled in a royal conspiracy.

With strands of Pixar and Studio Ghibli in its DNA, Wynd puts some compelling twists on the typical YA fantasy troupes. Dialynas' cartoony art really shines, especially on dialogue-free pages that help build Wynd's world. While this issue is essentially just an introduction to the series' world, it's still worth checking out. VERDICT: BUY
