1- Hi Yale, we are very happy to talk to you again, it’s been a while since our last interview! Your project JL8 (Little League then) was new at the time: what has changed? What about the relationship with the fans and with the readers who follow you on tumblr, facebook or at the conventions?

Hm. Well, it doesn’t really FEEL like much has changed, other than the strip has become a little bit more popular and I’ve gotten a lot busier with work that’s preventing me from giving all my time to JL8. As far as the relationship with the fans is concerned, it seems just about as strong if not stronger than it’s ever been. The fans have all been incredibly understanding and supportive of my needing to take a break from the strip to focus on more long-term career work. I can’t thank them enough for that.

2- You have recently piqued the interest of your fans through a Facebook countdown which ended on February 3rd. It included a teaser with Batman’s glove taken from the first panel of strip # 150, which coincides with your return to JL8. What can we expect in the near future? Will you write a larger plot or will you focus on short gags and episodic situations?

It’s definitely going to be larger-plot stories; two to be specific.

3- As we told you in the previous interview, you were able to capture the essence of each DC character you have drawn. Are you going to try something new with the characters or are you keeping a more “classic” approach?

I think I’ll do my best to maintain a balance. It’s important to keep the characters true to their nature, but given the setting (the fact that they’re school children), it’s virtually impossible NOT to take them in some new directions. The trick is to make sure that even when they’re being put in new situations and the like, they still maintain their personalities appropriately.

4- Many fans were surprised by your choice of making Bruce and Kara a couple, although the motivation “She’s blonde and I’m rich” is one of the most beautiful lines of the entire series! What can you tell us about that? Can you give us a “sneak preview” of the future stories?

Honestly, it just seemed like an interesting way to shake things up. It will be explored in the coming months, but that’s about all I’ll say at the moment.

5- You have recently collaborated with Marvel, in Nova # 100. How was it? Have you planned any further collaborations with Marvel?

Working with Marvel was great. There’s really nothing I can complain about. Unfortunately, there’s nothing else in the pipeline at the moment, but hopefully that will change. We’ll see.

6- What can you tell us about your future plans? Do you have any news for us? Are there projects in discussion with DC Comics?

Right now the plan is to just keep working on JL8, really. No other real news to speak of.

1- Ciao Yale, ben ritrovato!

Cosa puoi dirci a riguardo? Puoi darci qualche anticipazione?

Vedremo.
