Welcome to What's New in The New 52 – where you, the fans, get a sneak peek at the stuff that crosses our desks. This little feature is a way to keep you all in the loop about what's new, different and exciting in The New 52 – whether it's a character design, cover, splash page or panel.

Debuting in the pages of this fall's SWAMP THING ANNUAL #2, The Burgher Thing is a previous Avatar of the Green. Using the knowledge he acquired as a Swamp Thing during the 1500s, The Burgher Thing is appointed by the Parliament of Trees to become the Swamp Thing of today's guide. His purpose is to train Swamp Thing about what more he can do with his powers due to the challenge issued to him by Seeder.

Through these coaching sessions within the Green, Swamp Thing can become his most fully realized self when he takes on the colossal threat facing him – but will it work? And what consequences will the DC Universe face after Swamp Thing spends so much time in the Green?

The Burger King (lo so che è Burgher Thing ma suona troppo simile a Burger King )

Letti i primi quattro numeri della gestione Soule-Kano. Rispetto a Snyder si ha un notevole cambio di tono, lasciando da parte la componente horror e una visione piú ampia per concentrarsi sulla nuova condizione di Alec Holland. Si ha quindi una narrazione piú intimista, senza molta azione, ma con molti dialoghi. Neanche tanto male visto che, nonostante siano temi abbastanza usati, sono comunque trattati in maniera ben strutturata e non risultano per niente banali o noiosi. Soule, anche se in questi albi di fatto cerca di ambientarsi e di costruire un nuovo punto di partenza, riesce comunque ad ottenere risultati dignitosi. Personalmente aspetto che dia inizio ad una storia di piú ampio respiro per poter valutare meglio.
Kano, nonostante abbia uno stile molto piú solare di Paquette e Rudy, con il suo realismo dà una versione di Swamp Thing molto accattivante e devo dire che i disegni sono, per ora almeno, forse la parte piú forte della testata.  Alla fine siamo comunque in una fase di transizione, in attesa che gli eventi decollino di nuovo dopo il finale di Rotworld. Alcuni spunti sono stati giá lasciati (nel #21) e a breve suppongo verranno ripresi e sviscerati.
