Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo Relaunch Suicide Squad in December (Confirmed)

BURBANK, CA – (September 10, 2019) – The unlikeliest villains in the DC Universe are back in their grittiest incarnation yet as DC today announced plans for an all-new SUICIDE SQUAD ongoing series scheduled for December.

This new version of Task Force X is already full of changes, with new villains—any of whom could die on a mission or be dispatched by an all-new and mysterious leader who has replaced Amanda Waller. This

Squad's new mission is to neutralize a new group of international super-terrorists known as the Revolutionaries—and not everyone on either side will make it out alive! But when the U.S. government's most deniable team of antiheroes realizes that the surviving Revolutionaries will be joining the Squad, that's when the fireworks really begin!

According to an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, writer Tom Taylor talks about just how much he's raising the stakes in this new series: "Truly, no one is safe, there's a new regime, and this regime sees this team as assets and nothing more. They don't care if they lose them in the field, they can always get more, and they DO get more."

When DC's most desperate villains are combined with new inmates of Belle Reve that Task Force X has been trying to kill, who can Harley Quinn and Deadshot trust? These misfits not only have to worry about surviving their next mission, but each other as well.

"Bruno and I have been working together for around eight years and he's one of my favorite artists in the world," said Taylor. "We speak the same storytelling language and we have the same storytelling values. Getting to create all new characters with Bruno for DC is a bit of a dream."

Artistically, Bruno Redondo and Adriano Lucas provide a crisp, clean looking story despite the dozen or so outlandish villains they have at play in Suicide Squad #1. Despite serviceable artwork, however, writer Tom Taylor's story feels too overcrowded for any meaningful development to take place or create a sense of investment in his characters. On the one hand, Taylor leans heavily into an almost brand-new cast of characters, a group of superpowered activist-terrorists who are quickly drafted into the Squad's ranks — unfortunately, they're so paper-thin on characterization and motives that it's hard to care about them (especially when heads start exploding). Meanwhile, the few established characters are predictable in their survivability — when you've got Harley Quinn and Deadshot in the ranks, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see who else is getting the axe — but because they're repeatedly told they're inadequate, it's hard to give these career supervillains their just feeling of menace or charm. Not only is there a lack of personal investment in the primary cast of characters, but the dialogue lacked the sort of snappy, humorous zing one might expect from a character like Harley Quinn. Diehard fans of the Suicide Squad may find something to enjoy in this new series, but for most readers, it's worth passing over.

Per ora non è male, Taylor ha creato un bordello di OCs, ed è libero di far fuori chi vuole, quindi già questo rende tutto molto più interessante, cioè..ok, magari pg come HQ e Deadshot sono bulletproof, ma nulla di nuovo...
Il writer sta mettendo in piedi delle belle dinamiche fra i pg, le caratterizzazioni ecc...

C'è la giusta dose di pazzia e sangue (Taylor poi generalmente mi piace sempre) e le carte in tavola sono cambiate tipo subito, lasciandomi spiazzato. Questo è ancora di più un palo nel culo :sisi:
E' presto per dirlo ma se continua su questa linea sarà divertente.

Secondo numero ancora più bello! Interazione tra i personaggi gestita bene e ottimo twist sul finale.
A mio parere con questo nuovo cast, ora che li ho "affrontati", potrebbe saltare fuori una bella serie :mmm:

Altro bel numero, le carte in tavola si mischiano ulteriormente e ci sono due twist interessanti. Concordo con MoS, il finale è parecchio soddisfacente e fa capire che c'è qualcun'altro di ancora più pericoloso che tira le fila.

Numero che tutto sommato non era male, le tavole son sempre belle.
Però finalmente ho trovato il modo migliore per descrivere le cagate di Taylor che tanto mi fanno schifo.

Ovvero "plot points creati ad hoc per twitter".

Sul serio, ci sono certi momenti comici che a me fanno veramente rollare gli occhi di 360°, roba merdosa come Thor che prende la metro o il mantello di Strange nei film MCU.
Non servono ad un cazzo e mi rovinano il mood del momento.
Poi ho già capito che qua vuole ricreare il suo OC Marvel di Gabby e Jonathan, roba scandalosa degna di un Bendis.

Ad essere sincero mi ha divertito però non ha portato a niente. Solo a mostrare Bats e il suo lato comico.."troppo" comico.
Ora, uno direbbe "beh è la SS, ci sta la comicità, anche di Bruce". Sì ovvio, ma forse ho mesi e mesi di Batman di King & Co. in mente e quindi..
Non so..numero piacevole da leggere ma sarei andato avanti con la trama principale..

You know, io non ho nessun problema con tutto quello che ha da sbandierare, ma Taylor proprio non è in grado di nascondere la sua agenda come si deve, dovrebbe essere tutto fine, invece...si inventa una storia a random giusto per dirci quanto è preziosa madre natura, W Girl Powa e cose così...

Anche il modo in cui gioca con i suoi stesso OCs non è il massimo, prendiamo questo numero, dove decide di rivelare le loro origini e come il tutto si sposa con la trama generale...randomissimo.
Qualcuno gli dovrebbe fargli leggere le origini di Mime e Marionette in DClock!
Le matite son belle tho e lo storyarc di Kord ha tutta la mia attenzione, specialmente dopo Forever Evil.

lol, per tutto il numero, non ho fatto altro che storcere il naso e alzare il sopracciglio davanti ad ogni battuta, pagina dopo pagina, ma dopo quel finale...Taylor mi ha completamente conquistato. :asd:

Manca solo il numero finale e questo pare quasi di passaggio, Taylor imho racconta balle, ovviamente saranno cambiati i piani in vista del rilancio e lui ha dovuto chiudere tutto.
Poi magari faranno un remix/rilancio anche di questa testata, ma intanto ha raccontato una storia a random in neanche 12 numeri.

Oh meno male che era una "ongoing", non ditemi che ora anche alla DC cominciano a fare come alla Marvel....

La faccenda stava anche diventando interessante con Kord e Black Mask, ma damn...ormai chiudono...

Non si incastra malissimo la storia di Aerie e Wink con il progetto di Kord. Però pensavo a qualcosa "in più" per il pg.
Un e via dicendo..mi sembra un po' pochino non saprei..
Quel personaggio misterioso però mette curiosità.. :mmm:

Per quanto mi riguarda sì, è godibile nonostante magari qualche colpo basso (ma come tante altre serie), ma a mio parere si tratta sempre di un discorso di gusti personali.
Sicuramente non è da bocciare :nono:

Ueh Taylor mi aveva quasi fregato con l'azzurrone..  :dsi:
Però cavolo ci stava tremendamente bene il classico discorsone super positivo..ma in effetti puzzava tutto un po' di truffa.
Finale..sconcertante. Specialmente dopo quanto detto da Floyd riguardo la figlia.

Dopo un numero così al fulmicotone davvero c'è aria di chiusura?
I personaggi cominciavano a diventare familiari e si stava creando una buona struttura..perché chiudere? :nono:
Spero non mischino nuovamente le carte però. Nella SS un minimo di stabilità ci vuole e già i vari componenti entrano ed escono con una velocità assurda..

Ma sta roba l'ha davvero letta qualcuno? :blink:
Gli ho dato un'occhiata per curiosità, ma sembra la solita @#$%^& politically correct, con personaggi appositi creati inutilmente per far contenti quelli che si piangono addosso sui social perché non vengono rappresentati nel modo corretto. Volevo leggerla dopo quella di Rebirth, ma deo gratias l'ho scoperto in tempo.

A me ha divertito, ho apprezzato personaggi e comparto grafico.

Ho letto i due volumi italiani, molto belli.

Generalmente pur adorando il concept della Suicide Squad, trovo le serie spesso deludenti. Tra le poche note positive Glass nei new52 e questa gestione.
Certo è che se si parte prevenuti lamentandosi perché Taylor inserisce le ə...

Quindi usa pure la schwa? Persino peggio di quanto pensassi. Comunque no, mi è bastato vedere gli inutili personaggetti inseriti nella squadra al posto dei soliti nomi, ed il sapere che solitamente ci mette dentro materiale LGBTQ a caso, a quando non serve a niente ed a nessuno.

Aggiungi pure che l'uso di quel carattere rende alcuni snodi di trama davvero ostici
