Future State: How Superman and the DC Universe Will Evolve in 2021
CitazioneBig changes are brewing for DC Comics in the months ahead, both in terms of the stories being published and in the company's response to recent layoffs and editorial restructuring. With many ongoing comics wrapping up over the next several months and the massive Dark Nights: Death Metal crossover steering toward its climax in January, it's clear DC has something big planned for early 2021. That's where Future State comes in.

Future State is a two-month event wherein most of DC's regular monthly comics will be temporarily replaced by a new lineup of limited series and one-shot specials. There's no one, core Future State comic. Instead, the entire event allows creators to explore the future of the DC Universe, with stories set anywhere from 2030 all the way till the end of time as we know it. And once Future State concludes at the end of February, DC's ongoing plans for its comic book line will become clear.

While it's too early to say what's coming in March, we can shed much more light on the premise of Future State and the various comics involved. Read on to learn more and get the full scoop on how the Superman franchise factors prominently in this event, with plenty of insight from newly promoted Superman Group Editor Jamie S. Rich.

Jon Kent's Terrible Choice

Rich continued, "There's a lot to explore there in terms of who this character is. He's also grown up offstage in the future, which is a total other problem. He's got that kind of human, identifiable element that hopefully current readers can be attracted to. Here's a guy trying to figure out how to make his way in the world. And where we see him in Future State is there is a whole, rampant new version of Brainiac called Brain Cells that is self-replicating, and John is trying to figure out, 'How do I stop this? How do I protect my city?' The same time he's looking at Gotham, which is now is in big trouble. And he's like, 'How do I keep Metropolis from becoming Gotham?'"

Jon's fight to stop Brain Cells will also put him in conflict with Supergirl, who won't be too happy to see her cousin resort to the same Bottle City tech Brainiac used to steal away Kandor. In the process, Kara will take her own steps toward becoming a better hero in Clark's absence, finally evolving from Supergirl to Superwoman.

Rich said, "Supergirl is there to question him and challenge him and also maybe be like, 'Wait a minute. I am as powerful as my cousin. I am as powerful as Clark. Why am I not the one who gets the cape?' There's a lot of cool family drama in there."
A Brand New Wonder Woman

"Joelle was looking at Yara as - she is new to this," continued Rich. "Her humanity is still very much intact and very much important. From a reader standpoint, what does that mean for me when I look at this character? Diana Prince is a goddess, so she's always a bit above us. This is a chance to sort of get back to some of the early roots of Wonder Woman where Diana was trying to be human and trying to learn how to be human. Now we're going the opposite way - how does a human learn how to be a goddess?"

But even as Future State establishes Yara Flor and her relationships with her fellow young heroes, Future State will also spotlight the Amazonian warrior Nubia and even Diana Prince herself. Rich teased that we'll see the original Wonder Woman fighting at the very end of time, quite possibly the last surviving member of Earth's golden age of heroes.

Catcher

Ma quindi é una specie di 5g? E quanto resteranno i nuovi pg?

Man of Steel

Quasi.
