ROARIN' RICK'S RARE BIT FIENDS #24

Acclaimed dream artist Rick Veitch distills his own alchemical opus into the third chapter of "The Art Of Mercurius", triangulating imagination, meditation and dreams into a spiritual journey and a comic book like no other. BOY MAXIMORTAL #3

Young True-Man is a higher dimensional entity enthralled by a cheap disposable fantasy, grappling with otherworldly origins while hoping to save the world. With the government hunting it down and a girlfriend obsessed with its secret identity, life for our young super being is anything but simple. Rick Veitch continues his Eisner nominated superhero deconstruction in this third incredible installment of the Boy Maximortal saga!

Turn on! Tune in! Read BONG! Comics iconoclast, Rick Veitch unwraps a wild and wooly collection of Undergound Comix to feed the most discriminating head. BONG! includes all of Veitch's hallucinatory, satirical, provocative, long-out-of-print gutter classics such as Two-Fisted Zombies, The Tell-Tale Fart, Pud Pals, Momma's Bwah and Nutpeas in one definitely Not-Safe-For-Woke volume. BRAT PACK 30th Anniversary Edition

194 pp., $ 19,95

Subversively subtle yet completely over the top, Brat Pack is uncompromising, uncomfortable, and unforgettable. It's also an essential for every graphic novel collection. Publishers Weekly says "Brat Pack completes the troika of immortal works dissecting the superhero genre, the other two being Dark Knight and Watchmen."

Fierce and darkly comic, BRAT PACK has long been considered a subterranean classic that made the mainstream safe for totally twisted superhero satires. Veitch's no-holds-barred dissection of the hoary old 'kid sidekick' phenomena is as harrowing as it is hilarious. BRATPACK is an edgy and unforgettable dance macabre that is a must for every fan of superheroes.

BRATPACK is a companion volume to Rick Veitch's THE MAXIMORTAL and was nominated for "Best Graphic Album" in the Eisner Awards in 1995.

This black and white softcover edition includes Neil Gaiman's introduction, as well as a new cover design, an essay about the creation of Brat Pack by Rick Veitch and extra art.

Citazione di: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1492436961258340I'm really happy with how my first Sun Comics hardcover edition came out.  AZOTH is the fourth volume in the Collected Rare Bit Fiends and includes two complete graphic novellas, SUBTLEMAN and THE ART OF MERCURIUS.
I'm already preparing the sold-out Volume 2 in the series, POCKET UNIVERSE, for hardcover release in early 2023 to be followed by the other Rare Bit collections and then who knows what else.  Maybe a PANEL VISION collection?
These Kindle print-on-demand hardcovers are really well made with paper and printing of a higher caliber than the paperbacks.  The bindings are awesome.  And happily, these babies are not expensive.  I can offer a 150 page hardcover for $25 and still make a decent royalty.
The best part is I don't have to take the needs of publishers, distributors or retailers into consideration when creating them. I can make the books I want to make, free of any and all marketing considerations. That's a wonderful creative place to find myself in after fifty years of hustling in the comics biz.
If you are looking for something insanely cool as a holiday gift, you can't do better than an AZOTH hardcover.  But you might want to order soon to be certain it arrives in time to make it under the tree.  It takes about three weeks for Amazon to print, bind and fulfill hardcover orders.
But its so worth the wait.

CitazioneI am delighted to announce that Volume Two of the King Hell Heroica, BOY MAXIMORTAL, has been released and is available for immediate purchase on Amazon. Link to buy in the comments. Here's the skinny:

Rick Veitch, Quixote of Comics, brings his King Hell Heroica to a furious boil in this collected edition of Boy Maximortal. Originally serialized in comics, here is the complete Boy Maximortal graphic novel; Volume Two of Veitch's planned five book cycle, the King Hell Heroica. It joins The Maximortal (Volume One) and Brat Pack (Volume Four), in the hearts and minds of discriminating superhero readers around the world.

Accelerating faster than a speeding bullet, Boy Maximortal continues the story of True-Man, now a teenager hiding from an increasingly desperate military while trying to come to grips with powers and urges far beyond those of normal men. Played against a backdrop of the sleazy underworld of comic book publishing, Veitch's superhero deconstruction digs deep into the roots of a cultural mythos that has come to define our times.

Young True-Man is a higher dimensional entity enthralled by a cheap disposable fantasy, grappling with otherworldly origins while hoping to save the world. With the government hunting him down and a girlfriend obsessed with his secret identity, life for our young super being is anything but simple.

What happens when the most powerful creature on Earth reaches puberty? What secret truth running through history has led to his manifestation? If the military catches him can he be contained? Rick Veitch continues his Eisner nominated superhero deconstruction in this highly anticipated second volume the King Hell Heroica series.

Note: the back-up material that was included in Boy Maximortal comics #1-4, is not collected in this volume. A short essay on modern superhero culture, "The Forgotten Quest", by Veitch, is printed here for the first time.
