From the creative team behind the popular, New York Times bestselling Batgirl of Burnside—Brenden Fletcher, Cameron Stewart, and Babs Tarr—comes MOTOR CRUSH—is a stylish, neon-soaked, revved up science-fiction action series.

"I'm thrilled to continue working with this team on our new series, where we'll really cut loose with our imagination and deliver a world with more style, more action, and more excitement than you've ever seen from us!" said Stewart.

By day, a Domino Swift competes for fame and fortune in a worldwide motorcycle racing league. By night, she cracks helmets of rival gangs in brutal, illegal bike wars on the city streets to gain possession of a rare and valuable contraband: an engine-boosting "machine narcotic" known as MOTOR CRUSH. But the origins—and ultimate purpose—of this mysterious substance are unknown, and could put her on a collision course with danger...

Fletcher shared his enthusiasm for returning for a new project, adding: "Working with your friends on the product of your collective, unfiltered imagination is the dream of every creative. And we're about to live that dream!"

"I am SO excited to continue to work with these boys and really show everyone what we have to offer on something original," said Tarr. "This book is gonna OOZE style and cool, your eyeballs will barely be able to handle it! I can't wait to show you guys what we've got!"

MOTOR CRUSH rides into town this December 2016.

Motor Crush #2 (Published by Image Comics; Review by C.K. Stewart, 'Rama Rating 9 out of 10):

With no bike, no crush, and a megacorporation on the look out for her alter ego, Motor Crush #2 protagonist Domino Swift kicks off this month's issue with seemingly no place to go but up. Unfortunately, "up" only points her in the direction of a figure from her past who would rather Domino take another long drive off a short pier. Brenden Fletcher, Babs Tarr, and Cameron Stewart have created a cast of deeply relatable characters that make the gleaming, deceptively beautiful corporate dystopia of Nova Honda feel as if it's just up the road rather than a distant and unreachable locale. Stewart's layouts and Tarr's illustrations continue to impress, particularly in the way Tarr captures the high speed races that feature prominently in Motor Crush. With gorgeous art and a well-paced story that offers up a bevy of unexpected revelations and intriguing new twists, Motor Crush #2 easily lives up to the high bar set by last month's debut.

They say racing sequences are among the most difficult action tropes to pull off in comics, but the Motor Crush creative team sure make it look easy. Issue #3 delivers more high-octane thrills as Domino takes to the track and the streets in her increasingly desperate bid to keep her life afloat. Babs Tarr brings a very anime-worthy sense of style and motion to these scenes, while at the same time making the world and character stand out through vivid colors and generally creative character designs. The characters in this oddball world seem to draw equally from the realms of J-pop, Mad Max and The Warriors. Beneath all the colorful trappings, the series also works as a very grounded story of a woman struggling with both addiction and secrets. Domino's interactions with her father and ex-girlfriend serve to highlight what this character is fighting for and how much she stands to lose if her careful plans don't come to fruition. -Jesse

As fun and enjoyable as the Cameron Stewart/Brenden Fletcher/Babs Tarr Batgirl run was, the creators seem even more in their element with Motor Crush. Anything goes in the world of drug-fueled, high-stakes, psychedelic motorcycle racing. This issue piles new complications onto Domino's quest to uncover the truth about her past, while also calling into question the very nature of the Crush drug that fuels her racing career. There's plenty of weirdness and stylized action, but the creators never lose sight of the very grounded family drama at the heart of the book. Tarr's frenetic, manga-worthy figures are as eye-popping as ever, but this issue really emphasizes how crucial the coloring is to this books success. It opens with a stark, color-less flashback sequence before transition back into the neon-soaked present. Each character is given a color and texture that perfectly encapsulates who they are and how they fit into this crazy world. -Jesse

If it wasn't already clear that Motor Crush is a story about far more than just pretty people partaking in street racing, issue #5 makes it abundantly clear. Not that Babs Tarr's gorgeous, colorful art and dynamic racing sequences aren't big enough selling points on their own. This issue shifts the series in a bigger, bolder direction as it shines a light on Domino Swift's past and the real story of how her father came to adopt her. It's fun seeing the book develop a heavier sci-fi angle as time passes, but it's really the character drama that continues to give Motor Crush its strongest hook. Dom's relationships with both her father and her ex-girlfriend, Lola, serve as a reminder of how much she stands to lose. And those relationships become all the more critical as the creators set up the big twist that will carry the series into its second arc. Now begins the long wait until August. -Jesse

Motor Crush #5 (Published by Image Comics; Review by Matthew Sibley; 'Rama Rating: 9 out of 10):

Starting out with some home truths, Brenden Fletcher, Cameron Stewart, and Babs Tarr reveal the circumstances that led to Domino being rescued by her adoptive father, Sully, in Motor Crush #5. For a series that has been vibrant thus far, the use of black and white for these flashbacks is striking, and the vibrancy is made up for tenfold in the present day when the Dark Rider resurfaces. The history unknown until now is expectantly poignant, but the creative team avoid wallowing in misery. The rest of the issue recalls what would be considered a classic Flash story with the emphasis on family and high-octane speed that continue to build as the issue races to the conclusion which is equal parts unexpected, fitting with the series and a drastic change to the landscape of the series moving forward.
